HALIFAX IS SERIOUSLY THE BEST! I came to Halifax 2 years ago and it was not only the best on top of the best. But ROUND TWO of Halifax was even better! Hundreds of TNS hopefuls filled the streets of Halifax to become The Next Star! My favourite part about it all was that the east coast has some of the biggest Next Star fans EVER! Some kids lined up as early as 1am just to get a chance to audition! Above you can watch Halifax’s Star Stories which is all about Miss Keshia Chante! I stood in for Mark Spicoluk…it was SO much fun to shoot this!
While our Web Producer Craig was doing the CROWD HYPE all of the judges joined in on the fun and then this amazing picture happened:
Best moment of HALIFAX: Meeting all of the twitter crazed fans who just couldn’t WAIT for Next Star to touch down in their hometown! They are so nice and appreciative of every little thing we do for them..it’s awesome!
MONTREAL! It was the first city out of the entire #TNS6 tour and it was…CRAZY. Not only did hundreds of TNS hopefuls show up but there was tons of talent in MTL! This was the FIRST day on the TNS6 tour so for the entire team we were losing out minds…in a good way of course! . I went around to see who wanted to be in videos, who wanted FREE t-shirts and above we even gave Carlos a gift to welcome him to the team!
The kids in Montreal were great, I can’t wait for you guys to see the audition episodes in the summer!
THIS SUMMER I’ll be hitting the road with YTV’s the Next Star as their Next Star Nation Web Host! Could it get more EXCITING than that? We’re hitting up 6 cities all across Canada to find the Next Star. Come July on YTV you’ll be able to watch each of the episodes as we narrow down thousands of hopefuls to ONE winner! What exactly will I be hosting on the web? Well everything is hush hush right now…but I can tell you that I HAVE MY OWN MIC FLASH.
HOW COOL IS THIS?
I can NOT wait to meet all of you guys out on the road, it’s going to be crazy, crazier, and the CRAZIEST of all TNS tours ever. I have a feeling.
Someone asked me “Now, what would you talk about with Kay”…and then I asked myself the same question. I came up with lots of fun questions to ask Kay. She sings that infectious song “My Name is Kay” and has been on tour with Hedley and LMFAO. In the interview we play the “Re-Tweeting” game, talk about her upcoming album and start rumours.
It’s safe to say that this dude is a total teenage heart throb. I’ve never got so many requests ever to interview someone and you Tyler fans commited! In the interview we talk about how he feels about being so famous, his music and his unique friendship to Alyssa Reid. I might have confessed that I have a huge crush on her but then he gives me a tip on how to get her love…so it all worked out!
DEV! I did NOT think I was going to land this interview. I got the opportunity to go to the ACC to interview Dev right before she hit the stage at her show with Usher. That’s right USHER! The thing I really like Dev other than her infectious club beats is that she is so REAL. Not fake, just so honest and ‘tight’ (her favorite word). The respect I have for this girl is out the window…she is just SO COOL! This interview was the perfect MEET DEV interview…she’s the greatest
I was waiting FOREVER to interview These Kids. They are the definition of HYPE. I saw them when they opened for Fefe Dobson and ever since I saw them live I was like DANG I need to interview them. Their music is fun, summery, and catchy and the band are the coolest guys ever! In the interview we talk about their music, their covers and some other random things that were so off topic it’s hilarious!
HEAVY RADIO/TV ROTATION is what NEVEREST is on right now. Their songs “About Us” and “Everything” are being heard all across CANADA. Hanging out with these guys was like just chillin’ with some friends. NO pressure! We just talked about the tour, their stories about being obsessed with the Backstreet Boys and we even played a little game! They were awesome to meet, and I just can’t express ENOUGH how much passion this band has. They are truly amazing…and they’re from CANADA (BONUS)
I have interviewed 3 females at this point and no one made me as weak in the knees as Alyssa Reid did. Interviewing Alyssa Reid was like talking a friend. I was so excited to talk about her new music with her because by the lyrics you can tell they cut deep with her. I had so much fun with her I was even trying to be her best friend. It’s just so funny. I also like that she addressed the Alone Again song and people thinking it was a cover. I am a BIGGER fan then I already was! Her voice is angelic:)
This interview with FEFE DOBSON was hilarious. First and foremost the girl knows how to ROCK OUT. I saw her at the Barracuda Pretty in St. Catherines and she can ROCK. After the show I met a very ‘all rocked out’ Fefe who turned out to bring the energy towards the end of the interview when we did karate chops together. We talk when she kissed a girl, her love life and THE MUSIC!
IT’S TIME TO WIN! I trekked all the way to London, Ontario to interview DWW. I didn’t sit down with the entire crew but I did get to meet Bucky, Pat and Cam to talk about their album, their tour and some funny stories. Down With Webster is all about the hype. You can hear it in their music, in their live shows and most importantly even when they have interviews! Check it out above!
Mia Martina was such a pleasure to interview. She is freaking awesome in so many ways! Not only is she SUPER INTELLIGENT (she has a degree in psychology…yeah I wasn’t joking when I said intelligent) But Mia’s voice is the one we have all heard on the radio to the monster hit “Stereo Love”. She is more than just the “Stereo Love” singer though, her new album Chasing the Rush is coming out soon, and she has presence on stage like you wouldn’t believe. In this interview we talk about the industry, her childhood, and more!
If you have been following me on twitter or looking at all of the pictures I’ve been posting on facebook. You’ll know that I landed an ultra cool job this summer with The Next Star! Everything with this show is kept under wraps so I can’t talk about the ultra cool singers I’ve met, the amazing stage they built for this year and the cool production crew I work with BUT what I can tell you that Season 5 is going to be amazing.
Yes things will be quite busy working long days and what not, but don’t you fret because if you direct yourself over to my twitter (http://twitter.com/marksuknanan) I’ll still be tweeting about things to do with pop culture and life. Plus every so often I’ll be dropping a blog update wrapping up some big stories of the week starting Friday.
So my advice to you this summer is to listen to some amazing music (tweet me when you find some gems), enjoy the sun and have fun.
Every since Katy Perry started touring for Teenage Dream homegirl hasn’t had a break for a WHILE. You can tell she’s sick and tired in this new video for Wide Awake. The main lyric in this song is “I wish I knew then, what I know now”. You can tell there is some regret in her lyrics obviously about her marriage with Russel Brand and just overall tryin to have a career in the spotlight. Katy Perry is one of the most famous people out there. She does super-fun interviews but you can tell she is hitting a wall. With that said, it’s good because she is showing us the downside to the music industry. The video that had a little girl guiding her through a maze shows us that she wishes she was a little girl again and that she has some regrets. What it is, is Katy Perry telling us that she is too human and has regrets.
It’s a really good video and a great conclusion/segway into that long break she’ll be taking.
Well there are two parts to this wrap-up. First, let’s talk about the show! What did you all think? I think the MMVA’s is one of the award shows where no one really cares about the awards and just wants to see everyone perform. Not that it’s a bad thing but with the setting in the heart of downtown T-O and outdoors (with a fear of rain) we all just want to party. Who better to kick that off then LMFAO?
They performed a medley off all of their crazy drunken songs that we like to jam too in the song and let’s just say that they were the PERFECT co-hosts. The night went on and it seemed to be a Carly Rae Jepsen kind of night. She went home with a bunch of awards and performed Call Me Maybe (DUH) only the best song EVER.
Backstage in passing I asked her if she was sick of singing the song and she said “NOT YET”…you know what the means…we can’t be either!
Best performance of the night goes to Justin Bieber for his “All Around the World/Boyfriend” medley. There is no doubt that Bieber is back on top of his game. Coreographer by SYTYCD judge Brian Friedman every time we watched the rehersal and live performance it just put a smile on your face because it was SO amazing. I even gained an entirely new respect for the Biebs.
Best ‘live’ vocals goes to Kelly Clarkson. Yes she did win a singing competition and it’s VERY evident when she slayed the MMVA stage with a medley of “Dark Side and Stronger”. She just flew in from Ireland and was all jumbled up but she KILLED it.
Most ‘iffy’ performance goes to miss Katy Perry. After watching it on TV I really loved the whole vibe of it. You know wanting to know things before you do them and growing up and blah blah blah. But Katy Perry is a party queen and it would have been good to see her transfer that onto the MMVA stage. It was a good performance just not for the MMVA’s. Sorry K-P. I want to see you dance.
Now for the second part of this awesome award show. The cool thing about the MMVA’s is I go back to be a wrangler. That means I am in charge of someone to make sure they get to stage on time. I was in charge of Kelly Clarkson’s band who are were the EASIEST people to work with. I couldn’t believe how easy it was. They were just great. Kelly Clarkson was a GEM. Very nice, very chill, not a single Diva trait in her.
Overall for the 3rd year being at the MMVA’s it was just the best.
One of my favorites off of his album “+”. You’ve heard me talk about Ed Sheeran so much. There is something about this music that is just so infectious how could you not like it? This song in particular is a rap/acoustic/beat boxin’ mash-up of amazingness.
Well would you look at this. We’re nearing the RETURN of No Doubt with a Teen Choice performace in July and a new album in September, they are looking for ways to STAY ON TOP. So why not release the name of their new album? OKAY! I’m down for that. It’s going to be called “Push and Shove” with the first single called “Settle Down”. It was the song they were singing in their “In The Studio (Webisode 1)”.
Not going to lie, I know their just titles but it suits the band in every way possible. For the video they for Settle Down they are working with their long time froend Sophie Muller who is repsonsibly for their Don’t Speak and Underneath it all video. Also she is responsbible for Hips Don’t Lie, Ring the Alarm, Deja Vu (Beyonce), Gwen Stefani’s Wind It Up, and every video you have ever seen…well it seems that way anyway.
What it seems like to me is that No Doubt will be dropping a kick-ass video for their new single. Which means they are coming back with full force. ARE YOU EXCITED FOR IT? I AM. The thing I love about their sound is that they always push a little bit more on their reggae influence. For instance they have Busy Signal on this artist who is HUGE in the West Indies.
Hey, did you notice anything about Justin Biebers new song titles? Actually before I get to that let’s talk about this new song. I was expecting a little more Justin Timberlake a lot less 2012 Usher on this new album. Bieber dropped Boyfriend as a single and it sounded like nothing we were hearing on the radio right now. Then he releases “All Around the World” (feat Ludacris) and it sounds like another J-LO track. SO I got over it and then he released a song called “As Long As You Love Me” and it’s a bass heavy dub-stepped influenced track that is actually better then the Ludacris track but that’s beside the point. What’s up with all these club-sounding tracks? It’s not the Bieber I thought we were going to get but hey! I know his fans will love anything he does. But for me…he’s making forgettable music. As appose to “Baby” and “USmile” and “Never Say Never” those were BIEBER tracks. Get my drift?
Anyways…let’s talk about the song titles. The order will go Bieber track…other track.
Here you go:
Well…you get it right? Bieber may be a late-90′s baby but he is sure as hell loving the boy bands.
It’s just a song title though, the songs sound nothing like those ‘classic’ tracks.
Let me know what you think.
ALSO…(his entire album has leaked)
he did a song with Nicki Minaj called Beauty and the Beat.
