Wednesday’s NewsMakers!

April 4th, 2012 | Posted by marksuknanan in music - (0 Comments)

Holy Hump-Day. This morning was quite jampacked with news like the backlash of a ‘bad’ joke, naming the greatest rapper of all time, a very hyped up track unreleased and ass ass ass ass.

Here are today’s newsmakers!

Bruno Mars…GAY?

Well I don’t think this is as true as people want it to be BUT Bruno Mars being the prankster that he is revealed on a radio station that he is in fact gay. Only thing is though, it was on April Fools. Bad Joke…or what? Well people didn’t think it was a joke, so CNN reported on it and it all got taken out of context. Maybe Bruno Mars should be careful of the jokes he makes because he made some serious headlines…and what’s sad about it is that people believed it.

Kanye West calls ‘Big Sean’ the GREATEST RAPPER OF ALL TIME.

OF all time? Kanye West better check himself with these facts. If I was asked to choose the best rappers of all time, my list would include: Biggie, Tupac, Kanye and Jay-Z. The fact that Kanye West is counting himself out is what shocks me about this story. But wait…this didn’t come from Kanye’s mouth it came from Sean’s. While playing MTV’s Spring Bring Concert he said “I’m here kickin’ it with ‘Ye…’Ye telling me I’m gonna be the best rapper of all time”. Well Big Sean, it’s a huge compliment but Finally Famous was good but it wasn’t THAT good. It had a couple of hot tracks on it but hey it’s good to feed a rappers ego. Ass ass ass ass.

A$AP Rocky and Lana Del Rey collabo PULLED from mixtape.

Last night a one minute clip of “Ridin” feauring Lana Del Rey created a HUGE buzz for the upcoming release of A$AP Rocky’s mixtape “KickDrums Follow the Leader”. As suspect as this sound, it’s actually not surprising. Think about it, every blog possible wrote about this song and everyone was listening to the clip over and over again. Mixtapes are usually released for free which means the label wanted to make some money. It’s funny the way the industry works but hey gotta make that cake.

Here’s the clip:

and there you have it!

Certified swooner Bruno Mars is being featured on the cover of Rolling Stone. The April issue which is themed “Sex and Music” has Bruno talking about his influences, style and I’m sure there are a couple of dirty stories. Bruno Mars is the 10th man to ever be featured on a cover making history with Steve Martin, Donald Trump, Leslie Nielson, Gene Simmons and Seth Rogen.

The interesting thing about picking Bruno Mars for this is WHY BRUNO? My thing is that Bruno has that certain Sinatra vibe that Playboy knows and loves. This is Playboy’s way to try to make a ‘comeback’ into the mainstream world with more celebrities and edgy articles.

Will it actually make a comeback?

Probably not. Not to be harsh or anything, but Playboy is also looked at as trashy porn. Playboy has always tried to take the classy route, but it never seemed to be a thing of intrest. Perhaps when I get older I’ll be a subscriber.

Are you going to read Bruno Mars Playboy article?

Rest in Peace AMY. I would like to take this moment to thank you for leaving some amazing music back for us ;) I know I know, your thinking “this is a little creepy” BUT I released that I started to listen to most of her music after her death. I knew her tracks like Rehab and Back to Black but just in case you didn’t know she has many MORE amazing songs.

I don’t think it’s healthy for you to be listening to artists after their tradgic deaths because you realise that they aren’t making any more music. But I will say that I regret starting to listening to her later rather then sooner.

Here are my Amy tracks that you should add to your playlist:

“Cupid” : It was a deluxe track off of her iTunes release of Back to Black. It’s reggae infused rhythm had me thinking this is where Amy’s voice really belongs.

“Valerie”: Apparently this was a really well-known Amy song but I didn’t know that. I heard Bruno Mars perform it at the 2011 MTV VMA’S, and of course Bruno Mars KILLED IT so I had to listen to Winehouse’s version and I had no regrets.

Those are the only 2 I’ll give for now! I reccomend you to go buy ONE of Amy’s album and just listen. It’s the true meaning of good music!

Bruno Mars to bring his ‘laziness’ to the 2011 MuchMusic Video Awards this year. The sultry R&B singer has been confirmed on the MuchMusic website as well as Avril Lavigne, The Black Keys and City and Colour. Also announced earlier this month Selena Gomez will be co-hosting and Lady Gaga is going to baptize us all with a performance as well!

Seeing all the big peformers last year I wasn’t sure how they would top last years. They had Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Drake…I mean HUGE names. I think with the new performers they just added, we are in for quite the star studded event.

I can’t wait…bring the MUSIC!

My favorite award show of all time takes place tonight. The Grammy’s will start at 8PM eastern time to celebrate MUSIC like the Oscar’s celebrate movies. I remember watching the Grammy’s when I was younger, not really caring who won awards just wanting to see performances. For some reason all what I can recall is seeing Norah Jones perform “Don’t Know Why”….and I don’t know why. Last year was an amazing show because the Grammy’s use to be a very upscale classical type of award show, and last year with Lady Gaga opening the show it turned out to be more of a concert than an award show. Not to say when someone won an award it wasn’t a huge deal, but it seemed like everyones performances WERE very well THOUGHT out before they hit the stage comparing it to previous years…

Performers: TONIGHT we will get to see Lady Gaga perform her new single ‘Born This Way” FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER! Katy Perry said she will also be performing a song she has never performed before. Rihanna will be taking the stage with Drake to perform “What’s My Name” with Laryngitis and Bronchitis (that is if she doesn’t cancel between now and then). Mumford and Sons will take the stage with Bob Dylan to perform which will be has HISTORICAL as Taylor Swift performing with Stevie Nicks last year. There will be also be a Aretha Franklin tribute done by Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, and Florence Welsh. Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith will be performing with Usher….it’s just JAM PACKED with PERFORMANCES. Everyone always tries to put on the BEST show when it comes to the Grammy’s and bring their song alive. They are usually performing a song that got nominated meaning the performance will be to make the song more relevant to the Grammy’s.

All in all Tonight WILL be a good show. The fun thing about award shows is that the day after we get to talk about who WON, what people WORE, and who can’t sing LIVE! Who will deliver? Who will fail us? All questions will be answered TONIGHT! I am SO excited for this years Grammy’s!

Should be a good show…so the question remains. WILL YOU BE WATCHING?

MTV SKINS….no thank you

January 24th, 2011 | Posted by marksuknanan in tv - (0 Comments)

The U-S version of MTV skins kicked off it’s first season just the other week. I heard so much buzz about this show and I thought it was going to be on of those shows you just HAD to watch. Many critics were ranting and raving about the fact that this show had under age sex scenes, lots of drug involvement, and the fact that it is borderline porno sometimes. But my main issue is that it just SUCKED. Under every scene there is some music bed playing that just annoys you and distracts you from the dialouge. The actors are O-K but after watching I REALLY didn’t understand what the fuss was all about. It could be the fact of the sex scenes and drugs but…don’t we see that so often in movies? Nothing really shocked me other than the fact that the main character looks like Bruno Mars. (I’D STILL CATCH A GRENADE FOR YUUUUHHH)

Should you be watching?: After reading that blurb above, I’m sure I didn’t convince you to. But I reccomend you try it out and let me know if you like it. Maybe it’s just me…but I rather have a marathon of the Hills instead.

The rest is still unwritten.

I got the chance to see Bruno mars back in…….November, I think it was. His music is so unique and not only does he have a ‘michael-jackson’ esque voice but when he sings live his voice immediately grabs you :|(no wonder he is up for 6 Grammy’s). Whenever I hear him sing I wonder to myself, now how does someone get blessed with a voice like that!

Check out the ‘revised’ version of GRENADE that he peformed on ELLEN!
