The Electrofied Bluesfest!

While we’re RAVING about who was at the many U-S music festivals that are going on…we forgot that there is one just a couple hours away from us in Toronto. The Ottawa Bluesfest is happening in July and has gotten itself quite the line up. Lauryn Hill, The Weeknd…I mean I should just stop there because that already had me saying I’M THERE. But there is no stopping this festival with Norah Jones, Carly Rae Jepsen, LMFAO (yes, I know…), The Arkells, Seal, Down with Webster, Chromeo, Snoop Dogg, The Sheep Dogs, Our Lady Peace, Young the Giant, Skrillez, Tyga, Young Empires, K’Naan, and Metric. There are many more people playing but the only negative thing about this festival is that the shows take place on a bunch of different stages on a bunch of different nights. Rather then the one after the other concert, you have to way full days to see your favourite artists.

I just tweeted:

“LMFAO is playing at a ‘Bluesfest’, I couldn’t think of anyone more perfect for that gig.”

but I can’t poke too much fun because on any given day you can see me singing the Party Rock Anthem and the festival is called “Bluesfest, Electro-fied”. Very smart descison because now they’ll have waves of people coming out.

more MMVA performers announced. . . (SO EXCITED)

The MMVA’s are right around the corner. One of the most exciting award shows of all time will take place on June 19th 2011. Selena Gomez is said to be co-hosting and Lady Gaga is also set to perform. BOOM BOOM BOOM! How could it get any better? WELL…MuchMusic added Down With Webster, Fefe Dobson, Far East Movement Feat Dev, and SIMPLE plan to their already HOT list of performers.

I wasn’t sure how Much would compare to last year…but I think with these latest additions it’s going to be HUGE!

So many speculations…is Selena going to bring Bieber? With Fefe Dobson cry when she performs her break-up song “Can’t Breath”? Will Down With Webster be QUESTIONED about firing one of their band mates? ……SO MANY QUESTIONS and ONE BIG SHOW TO LOOK FORWARD TOO.

Can’t freakin’ wait!

Down With Webster lose their ‘ HYPE ‘

Today is a sad day in the world of Down With Webster! The 7-man group decided to give their hype man the boot. DWW posted on their website today that they have made a musical decision that leaned more into a 6 man group as appose to 7. In other words it sounds like they didn’t have enough money to pay him. Kap officially lost his job of being the guy who comes out on stage and makes you feel all crazy as well as waves that huge DWW flag for everyone to see. Cam, Pat, Bucky, Tyler, Marty, and Diggy remain the sole members of Down With Webster!

So now that?: This doesn’t change a thing for Down With Webster. It sucks that they had to kick a guy out because having the hype man was always kind of Down With Websters thing. Not without one we won’t really miss much, the remaining members will still bring the hype and make those classic songs we all know and love!

highlight of the Juno’s; Old Money

Last night Drake KILLED it as a host at this years 2011 Juno’s. Over all the night was a great night with performances from Down With Webster, Chromeo and Johnny Reid. But skits that Drake did throughout the show really made it entertainment. The skit I posted above was the one called Old Money…it speaks for itself! Watch and enjoy…haha

Last week when I went to go interview Down With Webster , what I thought would be a 5 min interview turned out to be 17 min interview. It was FREAKIN’ awesome. I am still in the process of editing the ‘full’ one so in the mean time I wanted to upload a couple snippets!

JUNO nominations ANNOUNCED!

BOOYAHKAH! This year is a HUGE year for the Juno awards because it is going to be held at the A-C-C in TORONTO ( I WILL DO ANYTHING TO BE THERE ). Today at around 10:30 A-M, Tanya Kim (eTalk’s entertainment anchor) took part in hosting the nomination ceremony! Keshia Chante, Justin Bieber, Drake, Arcade Fire, Die Mannequin, Down With Webster, and MORE are nominated for the BIG night in Canadian Music. Down With Webster, Hedley,  and Broken Social Scene have been announced as performers (and a lot more performers!).

More specifically,

Drake is up for six awards including album of the year for Thank Me Later. Seems like that album came out a really long time ago! But realistically it was only in August…MORE MUSIC DRAKE! Also adding on to his 6 nominations he is also HOSTING the award show for the night. (RANDOM)

Sean Desman’s JUNO snub, after the nominations were released he tweeted saying this isn’t his year because he didn’t get nominated. *awkward. Truthfully I believe he should have gotten nominated. His music is actually pretty good, I mean it’s very pop. But I don’t really see or understand HOW he didn’t get nominated. But then again….neither did his brother Danny Fernandes. WHAT IS THAT ABOUT?

Justin Bieber….well DUH! Of course he got nominated!

Down With Webster! Yes TODAY I actually talked about this with them and they said they feel BAD ASS. They have paid their dues in so many ways and their music and image is something I haven’t seen before. Adding on to their 2 nominations…they are PERFORMING!

Seems like this year is going to be a HUGE year. Lots of GREAT nominees and great peformers! Can’t wait to see how everything is going to go down. Overall the nominations seemed predictable with Justin Bieber and Drake leading the pack! But regardless, the show is going to be all sorts of CANADIAN craziness!

bands to watch; Down With Webster

As I said before 2011 will be a huge year in music, especially for Canadian music. I got the chance to meet Down with Webster last June and before I met them I never really payed attention to their first single “Richgirl”. Then I saw them hit the stage and perform a very marching band inspired version of “Your Man” (which my MY favorite song by them at this moment in time) and I was like :O. These 7 band mates are so talented and serious about what they do. The performance was a HIT and it made me realize that this band is not going anywhere anytime soon. They are for sure rising to fame and if you haven’t heard any of their music it has a rap/rock edge to it. They have come out with 2 albums so far and plan on releasing new music this year with Time To Win Vol 2. ALSO they will be going on tour next month! Before you know it this band will probably be selling out the A-C-C taking over North America!

Better watch out

Funny story: In July I was going on vacation to Jamaica, and I was at the Toronto airport getting food at Tim Hortons. I see all these guys walk up and I’m like….they look really familiar. Then all of a sudden I’m like HEY whats up and they are like MUCHMUSIC what’s up. At this moment someone called me MUCH MUSIC  (HOLY S$#@) and I was talking to Down with Webster at the airport. HOW COOL IS THAT!
