Don’t mind the caps but I am hella excited for these 2 to take over Toronto on June 17 2012. I’m a little upset that all of my predictions were wrong. I thought One Direction, The Wanted, or Katy Perry would be set to co-host this year but hey…who doesn’t like the party rock. With Katy Perry being announced as a main performer, I can see the vibe they are going with this year.

Full fledged bloc-party.

See you there.

KATY PERRY IS PERFORMING AT THE 2012 MMVA’s! Katy Perry will become a part of the MMVA’s again this year after performing California Girls a couple of years back. A memorable performance that was full of colours and candy was one of the best performances of the night back in 2010. Now MuchMusic says she is performing but WHO WILL CO-HOST? So far co-hosts have been Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, and Selena Gomez. A little bit of a Disney trend but who will host this year?

These are my top 5 picks for co-hosts for this year:

  • One Direction
  • Demi Lovato
  • The Wanted
  • Justin Bieber
  • The girls from Pretty Little Liars.

Who do you want to co-host? Either way it’ll be an amazing show.

Can’t wait.

Over the weekend Katy Perry performed at DirectTV’s Super Saturday Night and dedicated her raunchy song “Peacock” to the very ‘holy’ Tim Tebow. At the performance Katy Perry said “everything feels brand-new” which means maybe the singer is ready for a new man in her life? Tebow wasn’t the only football player that Katy Perry diddled, Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers won Offensive Rookie of the Year and Perry said

You’ll be the first straight man I’ve had a photo with in a long time, so live up to it.”

There are reports that Katy Perry’s parents feel like she should be with Tim Tebow because of his beliefs. Although people are saying that Katy Perry’s parents are trying to push the Tewbow thing, I don’t particular think that’s true. But I will say that Katy is definitely on the prowl again. She should start a reality show! NOT.

WELL these two ladies are having their first “firsts” for 2012! Since Adele underwent throat surgery she hasn’t performed live. She cancelled a bunch of tour dates, and left her fans rolling in the deep. Moving on to Katy Perry tight before we entered 2012, Katy announced that Russell Brand filed divorce therefore Katy stayed out of the spotlight for about a month. But with these two diva’s up for Grammy’s including Album of the Year and Record of the Year, both are slated to perform on February 12th at The Grammy’s.

What songs will they perform? I have a feeling Adele will do some sort of mash-up since all of her music is nominated. I’m sure we all won’t mind a Rolling in the Deep + Set Fire to the Rain + Someone Like You medley. For Katy Perry, I actually have NO CLUE. Ever single she has released has been performed at another award show so maybe she’ll do a medley as well.

LAST YEAR, Katy Perry performed “Not Like the Movies” and dedicated the song to her hubby at the time Russell Brand. Just a little bit awkward.

song of the year; the votes are in

December 12th, 2011 | Posted by marksuknanan in music - (0 Comments)

I posted a blast on my facebook/twitter to find out what the Song of the Year is. I couldn’t decide what it was myself but you helped me decide. Here are the nominees…

LMFAO – Party Rock Anthem

There is no denying that this song had everyone shuffling around the world. Party Rock Anthem was proof that everyone simply likes to party. The song hit big in the summer and was definitely the summer anthem but it’s up there for Song of the Year.

Pitbull Feat Ne-Yo – Give Me Everything

Pitbull sure makes you want to “enjoy life” and find out what “dah-lay” means. This anthem about not caring about what people say and just doing you was a huge hit on the radio this year. Ne-Yo’s infectious voice over a techno-like beat had people from the ages of 2-50 singing lyrics like “I might drink a little more then I should tonight” and the hook of the song “grab somebody sexy tell em’ HEY”. Good one on yah, Pitbull!

Katy Perry – Firework

One of Katy Perry’s 7 hits released this within the last couple of years was bound to be on any “song of the year” list.  Katy Perry broke records this year with her songs but nothing was as meaningful as Firework. The more radio-friendly track (comparing it to Lady Gaga’s Born this Way) had everyone wanting to belt out…BABY YOU’RE A FIRE WORK whether or not they could sing. Don’t lie…you have sung it a couple of times.

Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks

Foster The People…what more can I say about this band? Every song and video they release is edgy, fresh and fun! Pumped Up Kicks is one of their biggest hits and with a hit as big as this, it has me wondering how they will top themselves next year. Even if you don’t know who Foster the People are I’m sure you were singing “all the other kids with the pumped up kids” once or twice…

and the winner is:
Adele – Someone Like You

So I’m sure your thinking to your self “surprise, surprise” but Adele has topped every chart possible. If your not an Adele fan you may think her music is just plain depressing. But ‘rumour has it’ (which I think should be the 3rd single of of her album 21) that the general population LOVES Someone Like You. The song about a horrible break-up had most of the world (yes, the world) captivated. People were able to relate to this song and that’s why it’s My Song of the Year!

Honourable mentions to Rihanna – We Found Love…it came out too late for me to consider it a song of the year. But I’m jammin’ to it RIGHT NOW!

So this year’s televised Grammy Nomination Special was larger then ever. With anything large comes performances from Lady Gaga, Usher and appearances by Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry. The entire special was actually pretty entertaining as Gaga tore up the stage with her Marry the Night performance and then closed the shoe with a duet with Sugarland. But enough about the performances! How about the nominations?

Adele (of COURSE) got nominated for her song Rolling in the Deep and album 21…she pulled in 6 nominations this year including Album of the Year, and Record of the Year.

Kanye West got nominated for 7 Grammy’s but didn’t score an Album of the Year nomination for “My Beautiful Twisted Dark Fantasy” which in my opinion is easily one of the albums of the year.

But in Kanye West fashion, 7 Grammy’s wasn’t enough for him so he decided to file a complaint. His reasoning for not being nominated for Album of the Year is because he has put out too many albums.

Yeah, okay Kanye just keep on making that music we all love.

But who got snubbed?

Taylor Swift only got nominated for 2 Grammy’s. Someone who puts her heart and soul in to her albums that are so HONEST should get dozens of Grammy nods. I mean I’m sure she is humbled by getting nominated but come on Grammy people! She is one of the artists who shows a clear story line in her music and for that she should have gotten more nominations.

Beyonce was only nominated for 2. Best Collaboration for her song Party with Andre 300 and Best Live for her I Am world tour. Really? Beyonce that just released her most true to life album yet called “4″ couldn’t even get 4 nominations?

My theory: The people who vote for the Grammy’s love people who can be buzzed about. Adele, Nicki Minaj, J Cole, The Band Perry…they are all artists who have massive hits on the radio so it’s obvious that they would get nominated. I mean we all know that Adele is going to clean house which is fine because she is a musical mastermind.

But let’s talk Skrillrex, he came out from the d-j booth and just slapped EVERYONE in the face when he got nominated for 5 Grammy’s! Not only did he get nominated but if he wins it’ll be like when Jennifer Hudson won a Oscar. I’m not sure why I compared it to that but just go with it.

Who do you think got snubbed, or who do you think is going to win?

Bruno Mars to bring his ‘laziness’ to the 2011 MuchMusic Video Awards this year. The sultry R&B singer has been confirmed on the MuchMusic website as well as Avril Lavigne, The Black Keys and City and Colour. Also announced earlier this month Selena Gomez will be co-hosting and Lady Gaga is going to baptize us all with a performance as well!

Seeing all the big peformers last year I wasn’t sure how they would top last years. They had Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Drake…I mean HUGE names. I think with the new performers they just added, we are in for quite the star studded event.

I can’t wait…bring the MUSIC!

Katy Perry is gracing the cover of Vanity Fair this summer and accompanying the cover is a tell-all interview. In every interview (so far) Katy has been asked about her boobs, Russell Brand, and her sheltered childhood. The California Girls singer reiterates the fact that her parents weren’t at all accepting but she was accepting. Within the article she also said that her parents banned everything to do with the Devil like Deviled Eggs. Despite the negativity she felt she went through as a child faith was never a big deal to her. Katy Perry said that she is a big sponge and wants to experience any kind of faith or music there is out that. She said that when she was questioned about her Hindu ceremony as appose to a Christian ceremony. Although Katy Perry was being questioned about her faith and her scandalous ways…she did say this…

“I don’t care what people say about my relationship; I don’t care what people say about my boobs. People are buying my songs; I have a sold out tour. I’m getting incredible feedback from my music,” Perry said. “I already know my future evolution, where I’m going to go.”

WELL SAID Katy Perry. It’s true she is very successful, she is making hits we all love, and she is spreading that love to every city she is stopping off to on her California Dreams tour. Perry was also dissmissing all of the haters…and it worked!

Baby, your a firework…

As I posted before Osama Bin Laden has been officially pronounced dead after a very long game of ‘hide and seek’. Look below to what your favourite celebrites had to say about the death.

Paris Hilton: Just landed back in LA, so happy to hear the news of Osama bin Laden’s death. He was the face of terrorism and such an evil man. The world is a much better place with him not in it.

Jim Carrey: “Wow! They killed the Boogieman! I felt something was in the air tonight! Bin Laden era over! S’next? ?;^•”

Katy Perry: “AMERICA F-CK YEAH, HERE TO SAVE THE MOTHER F-CKIN DAY YEAH!#necessaryusageoftheFbombday

why Russell Brand is awesome…

April 10th, 2011 | Posted by marksuknanan in gossip - (0 Comments)

So we all know Russell Brand is a pimp. Okay wait, he might not be a ‘pimp’ or else Katy Perry would chain him to a large candy candy BUT he has 2 movies at the TOP of the box office right now. Which evidently makes him a pimp. We all had eyes on Russell when he did Forgetting Sarah Marshall and now he is STARRING in his own movies. It started with Get Him To The Greek and now he just released the remake to “Arthur”. Arthur hasn’t been getting that many good reviews however you have to admit Russell is holding a lot of star power. From the movies to the very high-profile marriage to Katy Perry it’s very obvious that Russell Brand is simply…SICK(for lack of a better word).

Stay FUNNY!: Russell needs to keep making us laugh. That is what we like to watch him for and he should continue to star in movies about nothing. I didn’t want to say he is ‘taking over’ but in a sense HE IS. I have a feeling Russell Brand will have a slew of movies and will be known at the Hollywood Funny Man. Just like Jim Carrey was…

Holy Space-balls, NEW.KATY.PERRY! My favourite pop-artist right now Katy Perry just realsed a video for ET. When I watched the video I was a LITTLE DISAPPOINTED by the very artsy approach to the unique song however I have to give her props for doing something different. Katy tackles her inner alien in this video with all sorts of cool visuals and a great Kanye West rap with a cherry on top. I was expecting the video to be very ‘sexed’ up but I’m actually kind of glad that Katy took this approach. Shows that she puts the work and dedication into the concept of her videos. Anyone can stand in front of a green-screen and mime the lyrics to the songs…she is floating and is wearing a kick-ass weave.

Superstars Katy Perry and Lady Gaga have found ways to get people to donate to the Japan relief fund. Now a lot of people’s donations come from giving a generous donation of how much ever money they can afford. But both Popstars decided to come up with merchaindise to get their fans to buy. In result of their fans buying the merch all the money is going to Japan! This is BRILLIANT! Everyone wants something with their favourite artists name on it and not only are they getting something out of it but they are helping other people as well!

Katy Perry’s product: Is a light up wand that can be bough of her concerts. When she performs Firework she wants everyone to turn theirs on and LIGHT up the Arena.

Lady Gaga: Designed a bracelet/wristband for Japan and has been selling it to her fans!

Both great ideas and more celebrities should be doing this!
