The key to Ke$ha’s heart;

February 6th, 2012 | Posted by marksuknanan in gossip | music - (0 Comments)

Ke$ha has spoken up in the latest issue with Glamour Magazine. She said that she has clothing optional parties, destroy’s men, and gets her assistant to jump around in a penis costumer whenever she is feeling sad. WAIT,WHAT? Ke$ha told the magazine that her assistant will get in the costumerand bounce around her house aka being Ke$ha’s assistant may be the best job EVER. Ke$ha will always be the most sexual pop star out there, you won’t see her posing scantily clad on a magazine cover but you will see her throwing condoms out to her audience. This is what I love about Ke$ha, she has a I don’t give a -what- attitude and just does what ever makes her happy. Like a penis costume!

In a interview with MTV News she said

People say that rock’n'roll is dead, and it is my mission and my goal to resurrect it in the form of my pop music”.

Well by the sounds of it, we should look forward to a killer 3rd album!

concerts of the year; chosen by you!

December 21st, 2011 | Posted by marksuknanan in Concerts - (0 Comments)

If you know me, you know that I love concerts! Whenever I see someone at a concert they always say to me “of course your here”, or I’ll be on the GO train going to the A-C-C and they would be like “oh your going to _____ tonight?”. I didn’t think I was that predictable…anyways with the year ending I had to compile some concerts that were the TOP of the year. Instead of me choosing them, I thought I’d let you pipe in…here is what YOU thought were the concerts of the year!

@BSBLOVER82 had fun at NEVEREST/NKOTBSB

“@marksuknanan prolly a bit late, but hands down gotta be @NKOTBSB tour & as well the @neverestmusic show! Amazing voices & super sweet guys!”

Funny thing, I haven’t actually seen NEVEREST live before but I hear they put on a great show. Also the hype when the New Kids on the Block joined Backstreet Boys was ‘larger then life’. I’d say they had a great run this year.

Brendon Greene & Jami Lynn Molloy LOVED DeadMau5

Brendon: “Deadmau5 Rogers Centre . I’m surprised I didn’t have a heart attack that night. The lights, the sounds, it was the best night of my life :)”

Jami: “DEADMAU5. Absolutely amazing ! The lights were crazy, the energy from the crowd was awesome, sofi was there doing here thing, and most importantly joel did his thing and went big for toronto his hometown !”

Another FUNNY thing, that a D-J got most of the votes. This brings up a little bit of a discussion that dub-step/d-j infused beats are taking over right now. I don’t mind it, but I don’t think we will get rid of the tradiotonal pop artist…(yay)

Emily Day had fun rockin’ out with Kings of Leon!

“Kings of leon ! Oct 7th , london cops coliseum , great music great drinks even better friends! The tragically hip concert at downsview park canada day !!!!! Probably one of the best concerts I’ve been too !! We had VIP tickets I highly recommended doing VIP.. No beer tent line ups no ticket line ups , no food line ups! Amaaazingg , summer time concerts are incredible and on canada so much patriotism!!! Red and white ! That is all . :)”

Sounds like VIP is the way to go. But I heard that Kings of Leon don’t put on quite as good as a show compared to when they play smaller venue shows. Any body else feel that way?

Rebekah Foote was feelin’ Ke$ha this year!

“@marksuknanan ke$ha & LMFAO. I was so entertaining, it was one massive party at the molson amp that night! Having front row was pretty epic.”

Hey I say that having front row at any concert is epic! I saw Ke$ha back in April when she played the Kool Haus and girl likes to party. Because all of her songs are essentially hits…you go to that concert realizing you know every word, to every song!

and Sharla was california dreamin’ with Katy Perry!

“F*****ing Katy Perry concert was absolutely amazing, just saying”

Well Sharla, I’d have to agree with that. Katy Perry played a 2 night stint in Toronto and she was super fun. Her show was very flashy and fun, BUT her set-list seemed a little random. Katy opened with Teenage Dream then sung Hummingbird Heartbeat which killed the audience’s vibe totally. But over all she did great!

What was MY concert of the year? It’s hard to decide what concert was the BEST of the year because I don’t think anyone would go to every single concert. Well I would if I had unlimted cash flow but for me the best concert I went to was Robyn. The music composition of the show was flawless and it was more then just a concert it seemed like a musical journey. But I have to give a honorable mention to the Sheepdogs who absoluetly slay when they perform live.

That is all. I’m totally obsessed with concerts and if your reading this…you are too!

MUSIC FANS! Andre 3000 is finding his way on everyone’s tracks. From Beyonce’s “Party” to Ke$ha’s “Sleazy”…he is now teaming up with Mac Miller! The buzzed about artist revealed that his DREAM collaboration would be to do one with Andre 3000.

Since Andre 3000 is doing tracks with everyone I mean why not spit a verse on Mac Miller’s single. Not only is he fresh but it would give him even MORE exposure.

Last night was ALL ABOUT BEYONCE at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards. The award show that was CUT off the air for a couple of years made for a HELL of a come back. Opening the show as Rihanna with her raunchy hit “S&M”. As soon as Rihanna hit the stage Britney Spears sent out a tweet that said “I Like It, Like It” which meant that home girl was coming out!

Did she come out? DUH!

Although Rihanna RIPPED up the stage, when Britney came out…it was a whole lot of AWKWARDNESS! (not a word, I’m aware ;) ) The thing with Britney is that she needs to LOOSEN UP…she seemed so uncomfortable with the pole dancing and the random pillow fight at the end. I think someone forgot to turn on the lights…I miss the OLD Britney.

Who had the BEST PERFORMANCE?

Who run the WORLD? BEYONCE! While Beyonce was getting awarded for excellence throughout the MANY years of her career. She was gearing up for the performance of a life time. “Who Run The World (Girls)” didn’t seem to be a radio favorite or a fan favorite, but I guarantee after seeing this performance…you’ll fall in love. Beyonce dances in front of a video screen without missing a BEAT…her main thing was that SHE HAD TO BE ON TIME or else the dance would look off. I think it’s safe to say that Beyonce was MORE on time than the video screen. (skip to the 3:00 min mark)

Most awkward performance:

NICKI MINAJ…betcha didn’t think I was going to say that one. The QUEEN of loosening up and being all CRAZY seemed a bit ‘tight’ when she performed her new single “Super-Bass”. Her performance that was even equipped with a surprise Britney cameo for their remix of “Till The World Ends” didn’t seem to ‘surprise’ or have the audience going O-M-G Nicki is amazing. But because she is still ‘new’ in the game I’ll cut her some slack and give her the credit for at least GETTING to the stage, being nominated…it was her first award show performance ever. It was like seeing your kid off to school for the first time.

WHO KNEW SHE COULD SING award goes to:

Ke$ha! Ke$ha opened her performance with a song called “Animal” off of her album and SLAYED It. She sang her ass off AND danced her ass off. She was on her game, and if we keep on seeing more performances like this Ke$ha will be even BIGGER than she already is. I think next to Beyonce she had one of the BEST performances of the night. “throw some glittah, make it RAIN”

Honorable mentions:

Cee-Lo Green took the stage for a MEDLEY of hits and reminded us WHY he makes good music. He did a mash-up of “Crazy”, “Forget You” and more hits.

Taio-Cruz won his first award EVER! …I bet he is throwing his hands up in the air ‘sometimes’.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are SO CUTE…however their ‘hugs’ and ‘kisses’ seemed a bit PLANNED throughout the night. But you can’t deny that they are the definition of a “teenage love affair” cue the Alicia Keys track…

What did YOU Think,

Mark Suknanan

Bruno Mars to bring his ‘laziness’ to the 2011 MuchMusic Video Awards this year. The sultry R&B singer has been confirmed on the MuchMusic website as well as Avril Lavigne, The Black Keys and City and Colour. Also announced earlier this month Selena Gomez will be co-hosting and Lady Gaga is going to baptize us all with a performance as well!

Seeing all the big peformers last year I wasn’t sure how they would top last years. They had Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Drake…I mean HUGE names. I think with the new performers they just added, we are in for quite the star studded event.

I can’t wait…bring the MUSIC!

-Mark Suknanan

You throw Ben Folds on the track. The very orchestral approach to Ke$ha’s song Sleazy has the song going VIRAL. The very ‘raw’ track that Ke$ha released on her album called “Cannibal” about circle jerks, getting free drinks, being easy, etc. has been turned into an almost inspiring version by Ben Folds.

Listen to it below!

What do you think? It’s so good!

get ready…new Beyonce in JUNE!

April 4th, 2011 | Posted by marksuknanan in music - (0 Comments)

Word on the street is that Beyonce will be releasing a new album in JUNE. Sony Music exec Denis Handlin said he flew out for a meeting in N-Y where Beyonce played six new tracks off her album. The album will be the follow-up to I am Sasha Fierce which made HISTORY for it’s track “Single Ladies”.  Denis  also reported that Beyonce will be gearing up for a HUGE TOUR with this album so get ready.

What to expect?: Before I heard that she is working with Sleigh Bells on some beats, which excites me because as you can see in the post below their beats are SO crazy. I think Beyonce is starting to creatively do a lot of different things, not just sticking to the same-old regular R&B vibe. When she drops this album it’s going to be a HIT there is no doubt about it. IN that meeting that Denis went to he also said the music was GROUNDBREAKING, that Beyonce is on an entire new level.

Collaborations: I haven’t heard of any collaborations as yet, usually Beyonce doesn’t do many on her album. But for this one I’m hoping she’ll make a few collaborations with maybe Nicki Minaj? Ke$ha? Gaga?…there are so many options but there are so many different routes that Beyonce can take with this.

I’m excited!

-Mark Suknanan

I don’t know WHO signed Ke$ha up for this role but word is she is guest starring on the show “Victorious”. The title of the episode is called “Ice Cream for Ke$ha”…once again who ever made up that name is very clever. The entire episode will circle around the cast trying to win a contest to go to a private show by the dirty girl herself. She ALSO is slated to perform on the show…what song will she perform? We R Who We R would probably be the most appropriate, I mean let’s get real here Ke$ha is EVERYTHING but appropriate. But god-bless her soul for touching little kids through this show. Not like TOUCHING them, but you know what I’m saying.

Ke$ha just brings a lot of irrelavant sexual jokes, I’m sure you agree.

who is Rebecca Black?

March 14th, 2011 | Posted by marksuknanan in gossip - (1 Comments)

If you know a couple of people who know how to shoot a music video and record a single. ALSO don’t forget the KEY factor here, know how to lay out some auto-tune over those vocals. Then you get the latest sensation Rebecca Black. What seems to be a very well-shot music video and a not so good song hit the internet a couple of days ago. Now Ms Rebecca Black has become the topic of everyones conversation!

Her song Friday is being called the worst song EVER. A lot of people aren’t liking it. I don’t like it either because it seems that she is mocking that people can get famous through youtube. Not to say she isn’t talented but this song isn’t so hot.

BUT Congrats on her 2 million views on YOUTUBE and finding a way to get us to talk about her! Got to admit not many people can do that. She is just a random Grade 8 that made a music video and now the world is talking about her. The majority of her responses have been negative, but think of her as a pre-mature Ke$ha just not as good.

Is it a joke: I don’t think so, I think she means business…unfortunately

Avril Lavigne loves Ke$ha

March 9th, 2011 | Posted by marksuknanan in music - (0 Comments)

Yesterday while Avril Lavigne was promoting her new album “Goodbye Lullaby” she uploaded a video of her self covering Tik-Tok by KE$HA. When I saw that she was covering this song, I thought she was just singing it on the instrumental to get some extra publicity. Although in Avril’s videos it seems like she likes to let loose. Her personality seems like she is a quiet girl and she would not be caught dead singing Ke$ha. Then I pressed play on the youtube video and heard a more ‘alternative/acoustic’ sounding version of Tik-Tok and it all made sense. The cover isn’t bad, she took a different direction with it. It sounds cool!

Take a listen:

-Mark Suknanan

Ke dollar sign HA just announced that she is putting out NEW MUSIC. Well just ONE new track and the rest of the album will be remixes. The C-D called “I am the Dance Commander and I Command You To Dance” (couldn’t think of a shorter title?) is going to feature a new track called “F___ Him, He’s a D-J” one of Ke$ha’s classiest! Can’t wait to hear the new song, and even the remix album. I am not a HUGE FAN of remix compilations but with Ke$ha’s music being made for us to ‘dance’ too, this album should be good.

The Grammy’s…an artists DREAM to win one of these trophy’s…and a reporters dream to be on the red carpet (of course I had to throw this in there). The competition is very HOT with all of  2010 top artists being nominated for awards this year. No one seemed to be ‘left out’ except for Ke$ha (it’s okay Kesh…maybe on the next album you can stop talking about balls) SO on that note I wanted to give you some of MY predictions for the some of the key awards of the night.

Song of the Year:

  • “Beg,Steal or Borrow,” Ray LaMontagne
  • “Forget You,” Cee-Lo <——-WINNER!!!
  • “The House That Built Me,” Miranda Lambert
  • “Love the Way You Lie,” Eminem, Rihanna
  • “Need You Now,” Lady Antebellum

Cee-Lo is DEFINITELY going to take this award. Not only has ‘Forget You’ been a household favorite for awhile now. Cee-Lo found a way to bring back the classic vibe to music while singing about things that are relevant to US. The song is a great song to listen to, almost empowering! I think he has it…

Album of the Year:

  • “The Suburbs,” Arcade Fire
  • “Recovery,” Eminem
  • “Need You Now,” Lady Antebellum
  • “The Fame Monster,” Lady Gaga
  • “Teenage Dream,” Katy Perry<—-WE HAVE A WINNER?

Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream was one of the most anticipated albums of 2010. But when you got that C-D unwrapped SMELT the Cotton Candy scented album cover and popped it into your C-D player. Katy Perry’s music DIDN’T disappoint. With tracks all written by her…Teenage Dream was an overall GREAT album. If she doesn’t win them Eminem is going to win it…he sold the most albums out of everyone.

Best New Artist

  • Florence and the Machine<—-WINNNNNNNNERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
  • Mumford & Sons
  • Esperanza Spalding
  • Justin Bieber
  • Drake

No I don’t think Justin Bieber is going to win…it’s not a popularity contest. Think about when Christina Aguilera won over Britney Spears that year Hit Me Baby One More time was HUGE. This year is not Justin Bieber’s year at the Grammy’s its….FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE! If you have heard Florence and the Machine’s song the Dog Days are Over you can tell right off the top that this band brings a whole new universe of MUSIC to us. Not only is their music good but Florence’s voice takes it for me.

Who do you guys think is going to clean house at the Grammy’s? I know Eminem will take home at least 6 and Bruno Mars will take 4….well I don’t KNOW I am predicting!
