Lauryn Hill is the ‘cover queen’

September 14th, 2011 | Posted by marksuknanan in music - (0 Comments)

There is no words for this cover. I just LOVE the way Lauryn Hill flipped Bob Marley’s Could You Be Loved into a even lively-er (not even a word) version of this song. The thing with Lauryn Hill is that all the politics behind her attitude and diva-ness has us looking past her music.

My friend says: “Like when she was on Sister Act 2…girl has pipes but no one likes a hater”

I would have to agree with her…but we can all hold hands and agree with Ms Hill can kill it. More Covers PLEASE!

COACHELLA!!!!

January 19th, 2011 | Posted by marksuknanan in Concerts | music - (2 Comments)

One of the biggest music festivals in North America has released it’s line-up! KANYE WEST is headlining the huge 3 day event. Coachella is like the ultimate celebration for GOOD music. Besides Kanye West, there are some HUGE artists that stick out.

ROBYN: who’s album Body Talk took over the last quarter of 2010. She bascially rose from the dead with this album. She was big in 1997 with her hit “Show Me Love”. Robyn is also embarking on a tour this year hitting up Toronto next Wednesday (SO EXCITED). So that show in Toronto will just be a ‘preview‘ of what she is going to bring to Coachella. 2011 is going to be huge for her, considering she is also up for Grammys!!!!!!!

Lauryn Hill: Even though she does like to make her fans wait…a long time to see her. Lauryn Hill’s addition to the Coachella line up really proved that ‘she’s back’. Even though she has no new material out right now, she will be performing songs off her unforgettable album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill“.

Cee-Lo Green: Cee-Lo some how found a way to bring back ‘soul‘ music to make US love it. Cee-Lo’s song ‘Forget You‘ is probably the reason to why he got on this show. But either way I would be excited to see him live; because the type of music he sings usually sounds 10x better when you see him live in concert.

Wiz Khalifa: Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow! He is performing on the same day as Kanye West so this is his perfect oppurtunity to get even MORE fans with this appearence. It’s going to be cool to see what he can bring to the table other than that ONE song.

….Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons, Duran Duran, Neon Treers, Broken Social Scene, Damian Marley & Nas are also on my list!

Can’t wait to see the coverage, or maybe I’ll take a flight out to California.

Anyone care to join?

Lauryn Hill chose a good time to ‘come back’. I mean everyone is doing it like Janet Jackson, NKOTB/BSB, etc. She decided to go on a Up Close and Personal tour playing very small venues right up until February. When I heard she was going on tour I was like :O…this is unbelievable. She is a LEGEND and she is playing small venues like the Sound Academy. Because let’s get real here….I hate going to concerts at the A-C-C especially if your in back shot nosebleed seats. Another thing I also can’t stand….and will never understand is DIVA behavior…take a look at this.

Now the reason she felt the need to explain herself is because he didn’t get the WELCOME she thought she was going to get (no kidding). She was THREE hours late. If I were at the concert, and I’m sure many of you would have felt this way…..You would have been ready to leave whether or not it was Lauryn Hill. But…..she really beleives she is worth the wait and after watching some clips of her show. OK yeah she is worth the wait but THREE hours? C’mon Ms. Hill get yo ass up on stage faster!

-haha :)
