The award show that last year created many headlines is back this year in full effect. The award show will take place on May 20th and will feature performanced by LMFAO, Carrie Underwood, The Wanted, and …JUSTIN BIEBER!

Adele leads the pack with 18 nominations which she’ll probably win and everyone from Rihanna to Lil Wayne to Lady Gaga are nominated. Those are the performers that have been announced so far but they promise more performers will be announced soon.

Should be a jam-packed performance filled award show with a lot to tweet about.

AKA

I’ll be live-tweeting the entire show. Follow me at@marksuknanan for some good old conversation.

I mean…popstars make the best conversations right?

Limp Bizkit signs to CASH MONEY.

February 24th, 2012 | Posted by marksuknanan in music - (0 Comments)

Well the band isn’t young enough to be on Young Money, but Limp Bizkit have found a new home at Cash Money. The band led by Fred Durst is on their route to a comeback from the 90′s when people would be buzzing about them. Limp Bizkit is best known for their reworked and retwurked version of George Michael’s uplifting song “Faith”. But  after being signed to Cash Money, where will this take their music? I’m thinking more main stream. The band has been on  various tours, releasing albums but it’s only their true fans that stuck with them heard their music. The ears that only listen to the radio probably don’t know who Fred Durst even is.

Speaking of Cash Money, there is talks that Ashanti (former Murder Inc. singer) might be signed to their label as well but nothing as been confirmed. Also don’t forget that the label signed Busta Rhymes and Mystikal…sounds like if you want your career to come back give Weezy a call.

The 90′s are truly coming back to haunt us, but I ain’t mad.

After years of brainstorming the Grammy’s have been trying to figure out how to insert a dance party into their very prestigious show. This year they decided to pitch a tent and put 1,000 fans outside for performances by Foo Fighers, DeadMau5, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and David Guetta. PERFECT! The Grammy’s sure know how to make people want to watch. After Chris Brown being announced to perform, I wondered what else could top this? Well a collaboration between DeadMau5 and FooFighters seem to be a worthy headline! The performance will be of the Foo Fighters song “Rope” mixed in with a little DeadMau5 flavour.

This is what I love about the Grammy’s, they take 2 unusual artists and put them together for an unforgettable performance!

Here is a preview of what the song will sound like:

One year ago today this song was released for digital download officially on iTunes. Looking back at how much this song impacted the rap game, who would have thought. The catchy lyrics like “yellow model chicks, yellow bottle sippin’”, “she wax it on and off” and Busta Rhymes incredible verse make this song one of the best rap songs ever. The beat that is produced by Diplo is as infectious as the song it’s self!

Happy Hump Day, LEGGO!

A stupid video, for a kind of stupid song. At times like this I ask my self, are my expectations of Nicki Minaj way too high? When I first watched the video I was over it very fast. The video for “Stupid Hoe” which broke a Vevo record by scoring 4.8 million views in 24 hours is full of Nicki glamour shots, bright colors, and googly eyes. The image for this video that I had could have been a direct stab to Lil’ Kim and even could have had some sort of concept to it. But it really didn’t at all. At the end of the song she says “I am the Female Weezey” which YES is true, but she is also like rap’s Lady Gaga. Nicki has more then enough budget to make a storyline or artistic video not just one full of epileptic camera shots, dutty wines, and once again googly eyes. Nicki got director Hype Williams to sign on and as we know he is responsible for many amazing videos like Beyonce’s Check On It, Ne-Yo’s So Sick and Missy Elliot’s Supa Dupa Fly. After watching the video again, I’m starting to kind of feel the song but I DON’T KNOW!

SIDENOTE: Nicki Minaj pushed her album to April 3rd 2012. The album is called Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

What do you think?

Drake dropped a video for (one of the best songs) on his album Take Care called The Motto. The song opens with the line “I’m the F***ing man” which most of us hip-hop fans beleive that Drake is the MAN. The infectious beat has all of us hip-hop fans bobbin’ our heads and wishing we knew the words to this song (it’s on repeat right now…all what I got was “erryday erryday” so far). The Motto is one of those songs that makes you want to walk down the street and make your own music video. I’m not sure why but it’s just SICK. The music video isn’t really HIGH budget but Drake’s videos so far have been more on the artsy side not on the typical flashing lights/video hoes.

What do you think?

You want people to watch your video? Release a single and give Nicki Minaj the first verse off of it…when it isn’t even her song. Nicki Minaj channels her inner Weezey (the man who signed her) for Birdman’s video for “Y U Mad”. The video looks like a standard rap music video. Lots of glamour shots, lots of Nicki and BLING.

Lady Gaga takes us through the day she got dropped from her label back in the day. The video which is 13 minute long is worth the watch! The emotion in it is so raw and she even smothers herself in Cheerios. Hey, everyone deals with rejection in a different way. The thing is with this video is that your essentially watching a mini-biography on Lady Gaga. With Gaga’s little monsters wondering what she is doing every minute of the day…this video will keep them occupied for a while until we wait for that big tour announcement!

If this video was to get awarded it would probably be up for “Trippiest Video of the Year”. The radio-worthy song “Call It What You Want” by Foster the People is accompanied by a series of random shots that make for a great video. I don’t know what else to say about it other then the fact that this is a MUST WATCH!

Well Anjulie pulled a fast one on us with this video. After her song “Brand New Chick” hit the radio I thought she would be making forgettable dance tracks for the rest of her career. I obviously made the wrong assumption. Anjulie released this video for a song called “Stand Behind the Music” which essentially is about standing up for what you believe in.

There’s always more videos where that came from.

Demi Lovato learns “How To Love”

September 20th, 2011 | Posted by marksuknanan in music - (0 Comments)

This girl is on a roll. Demo Lovato is currently playing intimate shows in L-A and New York (not anywhere close to Canada:() but word is she is putting on one hell of a show. Usually when we go see artists in concert they include some covers in their set list just to mix things up. For instance when I saw Beyonce she performed a cover of Alanis Morrisette’s “Outta Know” or Katy Perry performed Rebecca Black’s “Friday”. Hey! NO one said they had to cover classics.

How to Love: The fresh new Demi Lovato is performing more pop songs these days in an attempt to make it big on the radio.  The video features Demi Lovato performing the radio-adored Lil Wayne song and even forgetting some of the words. It’s so nice to watch! Makes you genuinely happy. I won’t be surprised if this video makes you an even bigger fan of her.

Her voice is unbelievable…check out the video below!

Have your friends ever bailed on you when you wanted to go to the club? Are you wondering where I am going with this? DAVID GUETTA just released a new album called “Nothing but the Beat” and it’s nothing but FULL of HITS. As my brother said to me “YO, this album is FULL OF BANGERS”. A ‘banger’ is something that can be either overplayed on the radio or overplayed in the club.

So here are the bangers that you should listen to of Guetta’s latest:

Turn Me On feat Nicki Minaj:  The majority of the song has Nicki Minaj singing all the verses and chorus and it’s kind of pleasent. I mean it’s no Superbass but I can see how this would do well in the club. For those of you who listen and realise that you prefer Nicki rapping…wait until the end.

I Can Only Imagine feat Chris Brown & Lil’ Wayne: But TWO off hip-hops hottest stars on a tracks can you come out with a track that might carry over to NEXT summer. The electro beats with Chris Brown’s voice seem to be a match made in heaven. Think Beautiful people on crack.

I Just Want To F feat Timbaland & Dev: Who doesn’t love Dev on a track? Her smooth vocals play a character in this track challenging Timbaland to you know…F. It’s like a new Promiscuious (Nelly Furtado) with a sick beat and DEV.

Go.Get.The.ALBUM! It’s a MUST!

ccHOLY COW BALLS! Kelly Rowland’s song “Motivation” is TAKING OVER. The very ‘sexual’ song is becoming a summer ‘banger’ (get it…banger?) with it’s smooth lyrics and high profile guest on the REMIX (Lil Wayne, Trey Songs, and BUSTA RHYMES). The very obvious song about SEX contains lyrics like “And when we’re done..I don’t want to feel my legs” has become#1 on most hip hop and R&B charts.

Beyonce WHO?: I didn’t think I’d see a time when Kelly Rowland is #1 and Beyonce isn’t but it JUST HAPPENED! This is HUGE for Ms.Kelly because it means we’ll be hearing a lot more music from her and hopefully she’ll drop some more great tracks VERY soon.  I don’t think a lot of people expected this from Kelly which is a good thing. We needed something FRESH and we’re getting it from a familiar face. Looks like that Destiny’s Child reunion might be delayed for a couple of years.

The remix: BUSTA RHYMES tears through this track…I don’t even know how to explain. Just listen BELOW!

Kelly’s album is due out at the end of July titled “Here I Am”!

Travis Barker‘s new album GIVE THE DRUMMER SOME drops today! With that Travis has been under a lot of hate-tweets (remember when it use to be hate-mail) for his collaborations with hip-hop artists. If you listen to Travis’s music NOW it’s mostly collaborations with Drake, Lil’ Wayne, Snoop Dogg etc. Which is great because you get the best of both worlds on certain tracks. But his fans don’t like it one bit. When he played at last years Grammy’s with Lil’ Wayne his fans were like “STOP PLAYING THIS RAP SHIT” causing his to respond and say…

“It’s like F*$K you man, open your ears you Nazi Bastards”

Some people just don’t like change when it comes to their music. Especially if they have been fans for so long. I can see where his ‘original’ Blink 182 fans are coming from but as I said people just HATE when their music changes. If music isn’t evolving with the time, then it is just weird for a ‘rock’ artist to start doing hip-hop.

I like it, but obviously his fans don’t!

LIL TWIST is coming out with a HUGE album. Young Money’s TEEN rapper has some heavyweights on his upcoming debut album. Twist was able to get Lil’ Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Sean Kingston, and everyone’s favorite…Justin Bieber! Not only his album coming out soon but he will also be joining Lil Wayne’s tour that ISN”T coming to TORONTO (makes me sad inside).

His rapping style reminds me of Lil’ Waynes, but his music is like “The Best I ever Had” by Drake.

No wonder he is signed to Young Money! Listen to his first single below,
