DeadMau5 VS Madonna?

Yes this feud is actually a feud. I wouldn’t call it a twitter feud since Madonna only had a twitter for one day. But DeadMau5 is not feeling Madonna’s approach to the comeback game after her album “MDNA” is a close resemblance used for the drug estacy. Although to Madonna is probably just sounds like a stylized cool play on words, she took to the stage to poke even more fun at the drug reference. At the Ultra Music Festival while performing with Avicii, Madonna used the term “Molly” which is another drug term. It seems like Madge is trying to use all the words the hipsters use just to fit in and DeadMau5 felt the same way. DeadMau5 called her irresponsible for being so unoriginal to have to use drug references to remain relevent. She knew what DeadMau5 was saying so in a form of a twitpic she said…

From one mouse to another. I don’t support drug use and I never have. I was referring to the song called ‘Have you seen Molly?’ written by my friend Cedric Gervais who I almost worked with on my album.”

Then DeadMau5 replied (probably impressed by her photoshopping skills)

Fair enough, I was just voicing my concerns as I usually do… Respect for clearing it up personally… Well there you have it kids. I’ve said what I needed to say, which I’ll still stand by, and so did she. Life goes on. No more talk of that… Regardless, just be a little more aware of what you *should* represent at EDM (electronic dance music) events, and I’ll watch my mouth.”

He sat down very fast, which means his ranting was pointless. But I guess it’s good that they kissed and made up. DeadMau5′s hate for pop-music is still growing but I wouldn’t be surprised if Pop artists just ranting about him. But shoutouts to the Canadian for making a name for himself. No matter what, his music is awesome and Madonna’s just isn’t for me.

Santigold disappointed with the “state of music”

Oh Santigold for a girl who released a single about other people having a “big mouth”…you seem to like to voice your opinion a lot. Santigold is one of the many artist who is adding their comments to the various careers of Lady Gaga, LMFAO and Madonna. Artists are mad that the pop-stars that are mainstream aren’t producing ‘good’ music.

Santigold explains

I’m disappointed with the state of music right now, but it’s not really about anybody specific. I think there’s a lack of true art, and the fanfare is valued over actual substance. It’s like you don’t have to make good music to be f**king huge. I’m sorry, but LMFAO performed at the Super Bowl? Aren’t they a joke band? That type of sh*t makes me cry. I’m like, ‘Really?’”

Santigold still remains a fan of Beyonce and Adele but she isn’t feeling the singers who music lacks art. Her upcoming album called Master of my Make-Believe will be about being in control of your own world. An album, I am actually really excited to hear!

Does this also bring up the argument between Digital vs Analog music? A lot of people are saying digital doesn’t deliver the same sound as analog which could be true but it’s a total preference thing. The way music is shifting right now, is towards the digital sound. Very dub-step, electronic and dance influenced.

So it’s no surprise that people are feeling this way, but it’s the way things are going!

HEY! Did you forget about Nicki Minaj?

Did you forget that Nicki Minaj performed with Madonna at the Superbowl? Well it seems like everyone did! The singer was outshined by M.I.A.’s recent middle finger stint and I’m sure felt a little “left out”. On Nicki Minaj’s blog “My Pink Friday.com” she revealed that she is performing a new song called “Roman Holiday” at the Grammy’s and then the next day she’ll be dropping a new single called “Starships”. Looks like Nicki Minaj is on the grind, and I ain’t mad.

After weeks of hating on her single “Stupid Hoe”, I regret to inform you that I now know the first verse after listening to it. DAMN. Anything new from Nicki Minaj is usually amazing so I can’t wait to hear what she comes up with for her new stuff. I am theorizing that she is going to keep to her ‘hard’ rap alter-ego Roman for the entire album which is good!

I had the feeling that she was feeling a bit outshined because of the recent news of her new stuff plus lets face it, other then her video being banned from BET she hasn’t made that much news headlines. But it’s a good thing because we can all maintain a mutual respect for Ms Nicki Minaj!

Now, how about you announce that tour!

Madonna announces WORLD TOUR and you chime in!

Fresh off her kick-butt performance at the SuperBowl. Madonna has announced her biggest tour in years. She is set to hit 5 Canadian cities including Toronto in September. But with pricey tickets and a lip syncing scandal in mind, does anyone care?

Well these 5 said:

Lillian Leah K: HELL F****N YES and I will do anything to get my hands on tickets.. Lol she’s my idol and I think this will be her biggest concert from all

Meyekill Albertini: She seriously is…? :s

Chanelle Samuel: Madonna is a star and an icon, she will forever remain that! Her tour will definitely be one for the books and fans of all ages will attend I’m sure! Even though only a prayer could of saved her sunday she’ll be success on tour, there’s no doubt!

Tan Bubs: yay! I wanna see her!

Sammi Barber: omg!! I deff could not care less! I love what Madonna STOOD for back when she had a message to send, but now she’s gota move on and give other people their turn to shine. most of my bitterness steams from her stupid body suits… your hot but seriously grow up.

Looks like the Queen of Pop has mixed reviews. For me, I’m not interested. Her tickets will cost too much, however she is someone that everyone should see before they die right? She IS an icon, and I’m sure her show will be filled with great production value. I’m in the middle as well! How about this? If you pay, I’ll be there!

SUPERBOWL HALF-TIME SHOW REVIEW!

Last year I did a video review of the Black Eyed Pea’s performance but this year I’m in a totally different setting where I can’t even make a video, makes me kind of sad. However last night Madonna hit the stage for the Superbowl half-time show with guests Cee-Lo, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A., and LMFAO. A perfect combo to relate to the wide spread audience that would be watching, come on everybody knows about the Party Rock Anthem.

Right off the top Madonna entered a gladiator themed stage-set up with Vouge. All what I have to say is that girl knows how to make an entrance! Madonna then went into singing Music (one of her more popular songs in the 2000′s) and continued on with Give Me All Ur Luv featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. Madonna also performed Party Rock with LMFAO and Open Your Heart/Living on a Prayer with Cee-Lo. The performance ROCKED the stadium and I must say that I wasn’t that dissapointed.

But just for negativity sake let’s point out some flaws:

Madonna missed a step: Right as Madonna was going onto the “bleacher” type type, she lost her balance and almost fell. Why Madonna is awesome? She didn’t fall and didn’t miss a beat.

M.I.A. giving the finger: The BEST part of the entire performance is when someone you collaborated with messes up everything. When M.I.A. finished her verse, she flipped off the camera kind of like she does in the video. The hand-gesture caused the NFL and NBC to have to issue an apology.

Lip-sync heaven: EVERYTHING WAS LIP SYNCED. Apparently there is a rumour going around that if you perform the Superbowl you must lip sync. But I don’t think that is true. Last year, the Black Eyed Peas didn’t lip sync…so what does that say to you?

All-in-All I was thoroughly entertained and it wasn’t horrible!

M.I.A. shows up in TWO new videos today!

  M.I.A. is making her comeback to the mainstream. The singer just released a power anthem called “Bad Girls”. The song is heavily influenced by M.I.A’s roots, and wouldn’t do bad in the club. The chorus features infectious lyrics like ” Live Fast, Die Young, Bad Girls Do It Well” and depending on how many people start buzzin’ about this video; it might become one of the best videos of 2012! Throughout the video we see the controversial singer do some choreography, and just bring that unique swag that we all love! After writing about Kanye West’s middle eastern music video, I think M.I.A just beat him to it.

AND THEN THERE WAS THIS! Madonna just dropped a video for her song “Give Me All Your Luvin” featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. The video has a heavy housewife football theme throughout to tease her upcoming Superbowl performance. The video gets really good after the 2 minute mark, Nicki Minaj drops a verse in her Roman alter-ego then M.I.A. just slays her verse. I think we need to take Madonna out of the occasion because she was out-shined by these two. I give it 4 years before M.I.A. and Nicki do a watch the throne type of album together!

Elton John VS Madonna

  Right after the Golden Globes I asked a bunch of you…who do you prefer? You all said ELTON over Madonna any day. The reason I asked is because Elton has been talking a lot of sh*t about Madonna since she won a Golden Globe over him. More recently, Elton was on Good Morning America and he said 

Make sure you lip sync good”

LOL, yes he is THAT bitter. The thing about the Golden Globes is both of them were invited and I guess it was in Elton’s favour to win but Madonna has a movie to promote so her song won. Now I never really considered Madonna a musician…I would say she is more of an entertainer. So for Madonna to win an award OVER Elton John in a musical category kind of had me a little bit confused as well. 

BUT I will say that Elton needs to get over it…I’m sure ONE more Golden Globe wouldn’t matter compared to is Oscar, Tony, and Grammy’s. 

Maybe Elton is getting a little Greedy? What do you think? It’s like the Lil’ Kim and Nicki Minaj of adult contemporary music.

Madonna; the comeback that I’m just not sure about…

  Now I am NOT the biggest Madonna fan so this blog post might be a little bias. But word on the street is, is that Madonna has signed a 3-album deal with Interscope records after leaving her long time label lover Warner Records. Madonna’s last album “Hard Candy” was successful and so was the tour that grossed around 400 million dollars. But this is when I feel like there comes a time in Madonna’s life where she just needs to stop. 

  I’m thinking the reason why I’m feeling this way because as unique and fun as Madonna is I feel like her time as come and gone. Her last album had some mediocre tracks on it like “4 Minutes”, ” Beat Goes On feat Kanye West”, and “Give It To Me” which was produced by the Neptunes. For her new album, still untitled. She has been promoting a singles called “Gimme All Your Lovin” featuring two of musics baddest bitches Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. There is no doubt that this single will get mass radio play and Madonna’s album will sell millions but as I said, I just DON’T KNOW about this. 

 Also for you guys that can’t wait for Madonna to perform at the SUPERBOWL! Her setlist has been leaked and she’s performing

  • Gimme All Your Lovin (with Nicki Minaj and MIA)
  • Ray Of Light
  • Vouge
  • Music
  • Holiday

and that’s IT. I’m okay with it, I thought she would bring out J-T for 4 minutes. But she’s kickin’ it old school it seems like.

new music video; Lady Gaga – Born This Way

It doesn’t matter if your love him, or capital H-I-M ( WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!?!?!). The new and HIGHLY anticipated Lady Gaga video for Born This Way dropped and I must say I’m IMPRESSED. Not only does Gaga look like an alien, but in some of the shots she actually looks kinda good? Yes I just questioned marked ‘good’ because if we take it back to the days when Lady Gaga would be tanned and rockin’ to Just Dance. She actually was HOT, now we look at Gaga and some of us are a little squimish. Depending on the look, Lady Gaga could have us saying YAY or NAY.

Born This Way: For this VIDEO in particular, the one thing that I totally respect about Gagz is that she can CONSTANTLY reinvent her self to be more unique and different for every SINGLE. Usually artists change their look or vibe through even album, but I think it’s safe to say that GAGA did it again in this video. The video or more like MINI-MOVIE has Lady Gaga giving birth in it, and a lot of dancing. The combination of EVERY Lady Gaga video seems to be weird outfits + something to shock audiences + lots of dancing = most viewed video on YOUTUBE.

Should you watch? YES YOU SHOULD. This video is everything that Lady Gaga is. It is weird, but it is entertaining to watch all throughout. People may have told you that the song is a little like Madonna’s Express Yourself and YES it is. But Lady Gaga never said that she didn’t want to BE Madonna. She is just emboding all of Madonna’s traits in this video and making it her own. She was BORN THIS WAY.
