Well this story is probably as fabricated as the one about Rihanna giving Adele a boobie birthday cake. But hey, who doesn’t like a good sex tape story. Apparently a Nicki Minaj sex tape is about to surface. But with who you ask? Big Sean of course.
The two were seen grinding on eachother in the song for “Dance (A$$)” and when interviewed in New York he said “Yeah, she felt my Big Sean”…and I’m sure that’s not all she did with your Big Sean.
One of the very few celebrities who keep in touch with their fans over twitter has now deleted their accounts. In a passion of anger, Nicki Minaj pressed that ‘deactivate my account’ button. Minaj’s last tweet said “Like seriously, it’s but so much a person can take…Good f***ing bye.”, then her account was gone. Nicki Minaj was mad at a fansite called NickiDaily.com for leaking her music. Which I think she has a reason to be mad. When one of your ‘fansites’ is advertising your music for free it doesn’t really make sense because they should be buying your music. So when the fansite realized they were the reason for Minaj’s anger rant they hit Minaj back when their site said CLOSED and had one of her songs called “Dear Old Nicki” playing on a loop.
Do fans thinks she has changed now that she is become more mainstream?
A cut off of her mixtape “It’s Barbie B*TCH”. I loved this mix-tape and when Nicki came to the mainstream I thought she would keep this flow. But instead we got the sequel to the Exorcism. Nicki’s name popped up twice in the news today. She is saying she wants to dethrone Jay-Z. When they met at the Victoria Secret fashion so she told him that she is coming for his spot. I really think that Jay-Z is irreplaceable, I mean I’m sure Beyonce thinks so. But hey Nicki DREAM BIG! Speaking of dreaming big and trying to make a name for yourself Azealia Banks makes it back into the news by starting a medium-rare beef with Nicki. She said that Nicki Minaj is annoying but she loved her and loves Pink Friday. She always starts something but then eases back. Always eating her words!
Ester Dean is making her official debut with her single “Gimme Money”. The very lack-luster track hit the web with the help of Nicki Minaj. Like Ester helped Nicki on Super Bass, Minaj is returning the favour by dropping a very street rap of the harujuku barbie on this song. Although the song is very Rihanna “Rude Boy”-ish it makes a good listen for whenever your feeling bored.
Switching gears to a very Dr Seuss type of song. Ester Dean also lent her vocals to the sountrack of “Lorax”. The song called “Let It Grow (Celebrate the World)” is a little bit better then the first single I mentioned. The track produced by Tricky Stuarts features some of the regular auto-tune, synths and mid-tempo dance beats. Something that they could play when the credits are rolling.
But this brings up the question can Ester Dean hold her own? For years now Ester Dean has helped out on various artists albums like Britney Spears, Rihanna, Trey Songs, Kelly Clarkson, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Pia Toscano…you name it…if they charted on Billboard Ester was behind them. But Jay-Z’s label Roc-Nation is taking their chances with her to start producing her own hits. Ester has mostly been on soundtracks and things like that, but now I think she’ll be releasing her own full-length album very soon.
Hey, if Jay-Z’s people think she can do it…she must be capable! I love what she did with Super-Bass…hopefully she’ll be able to become her own true artist through some music. Not make music that sounds like “Oh Rihanna would sound good on that track”.
Nicki Minaj is giving us more of that super sweet Barbie alter ego we love with what sounds to be a follow up to “Superbass” called “Starships”. A song about putting your hands up to the sky and getting high sounds reminiscent of Britney Spears’ “Till the World End”. Ryan Seacrest has been ranting and raving about this song and it’s actually REALLY good. There is no doubt that this song will be hitting the clubs very soon with the mixture of crazy beats and Nicki Minaj’s crazy rapping! Expect a lot of radio play.
Listen here:
Then there was this! Usher and Diplo teamed up to help you reach your climax. Usher’s smooth voice sounds like he’s taking us back to his R&B roots with this song. The song that I actually thought was going to be another club song turned out to be Usher at his best on vocals with a unique twist on a beat the radio hasn’t heard before. People are saying it sounds like electro-soul.
Hello and welcome to my post-Grammy wrap party! What a night last night was. With the death of Whitney Houston putting a gloom over the show we celebrated the last year in music and what we loss with lots of tributes, crazy fashion and flashy performances. Your host LL Cool J was as boring as they come, but his opening prayer to Whitney Houston is what put him on my good side. LL Cool J usually hosts the Grammy nomination special and producers thought it would be a good idea to cross him over to the big show. But whether or not they made a good choice is boggling my mind.
Now that all of the Grammy’s have gone out, time to give out my own awards!
Best Acceptance Speech:
“This record is inspired by something that is really normal and everyone has been through it, a rubbish relationship. It’s gone on to do things that I can’t even believe”, a hysterical Adele said! Why this acceptance speech is awesome, because Adele chose to talk about the snot that was coming out of her nose.
Best Performance:
While watching Adele on 60 minutes before the Grammy’s. She said this surgery she got gave her a new confidence while singing. It totally shined during this performance. Starting off with a accapella of “Rolling in the Deep” with the band kicking in. No funny lights, fire works, just a voice that will be remembered for a very long time.
Best Tribute:
While it seemed like everyone was trying to make a comeback, we were all still distraught over the death of Whitney Houston. A spotlight, a mic stand, and Jennifer Hudson absolutely killed “I will always love you”. Full of emotions and that voice…whoa momma.
Worst Performance:
He lip-sang the sh*t of this song. The first verse was sang live but everything else was flooded by bright lights, lego blocks and a lip syncing track. BOO! At least if they were going to bring Chris Brown to perform at the Grammy’s he could have at least done well. I think the Grammy’s made a really bad decision bringing Chris Brown back. It’s like they are saying that he did to Rihanna was okay. There were plenty of people that could have taken Chris’s spot because in no way was he memorable. Sorry Chris!
Performance I Hated To Love:
NICKI MINAJ! What in the world was going on? This performance seemed like it was straight out of the MTV VMA’s not one for the Grammy’s. Some people said “Why doesn’t she perform a song people know” or some others just simply hated it. But taking risks will have people talking and I’m sure thats what Nicki Minaj intended to do. Premiering a new song called “Roman’s Holiday” with a Vatican church theme might have offended a few people but hey at least she didn’t burn any crosses.
Most Unexpected:
I was a little skeptical about Rihanna + Coldplay performing because Coldplay has great songs and so does Rihanna! There is no reason for them to perform together. BUT Rihanna heard me out and played a piano version of “We Found Love” reminiscent of the opening scenes to her kick-ass video. Then there was a bridge between Coldplay’s performance with a duet of “Princess of China”. I liked the acoustic version of this song much better then the album version! They did good, and I wasn’t expecting it.
Honorable mention: CIVIL WARS! They introduced Taylor Swift and song the most beautiful 30 secs that I have ever heard.
The Grammy’s were awesome…now I just can’t wait until the next award show.
Did you forget that Nicki Minaj performed with Madonna at the Superbowl? Well it seems like everyone did! The singer was outshined by M.I.A.’s recent middle finger stint and I’m sure felt a little “left out”. On Nicki Minaj’s blog “My Pink Friday.com” she revealed that she is performing a new song called “Roman Holiday” at the Grammy’s and then the next day she’ll be dropping a new single called “Starships”. Looks like Nicki Minaj is on the grind, and I ain’t mad.
After weeks of hating on her single “Stupid Hoe”, I regret to inform you that I now know the first verse after listening to it. DAMN. Anything new from Nicki Minaj is usually amazing so I can’t wait to hear what she comes up with for her new stuff. I am theorizing that she is going to keep to her ‘hard’ rap alter-ego Roman for the entire album which is good!
I had the feeling that she was feeling a bit outshined because of the recent news of her new stuff plus lets face it, other then her video being banned from BET she hasn’t made that much news headlines. But it’s a good thing because we can all maintain a mutual respect for Ms Nicki Minaj!
Last year I did a video review of the Black Eyed Pea’s performance but this year I’m in a totally different setting where I can’t even make a video, makes me kind of sad. However last night Madonna hit the stage for the Superbowl half-time show with guests Cee-Lo, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A., and LMFAO. A perfect combo to relate to the wide spread audience that would be watching, come on everybody knows about the Party Rock Anthem.
Right off the top Madonna entered a gladiator themed stage-set up with Vouge. All what I have to say is that girl knows how to make an entrance! Madonna then went into singing Music (one of her more popular songs in the 2000′s) and continued on with Give Me All Ur Luv featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. Madonna also performed Party Rock with LMFAO and Open Your Heart/Living on a Prayer with Cee-Lo. The performance ROCKED the stadium and I must say that I wasn’t that dissapointed.
But just for negativity sake let’s point out some flaws:
Madonna missed a step: Right as Madonna was going onto the “bleacher” type type, she lost her balance and almost fell. Why Madonna is awesome? She didn’t fall and didn’t miss a beat.
M.I.A. giving the finger: The BEST part of the entire performance is when someone you collaborated with messes up everything. When M.I.A. finished her verse, she flipped off the camera kind of like she does in the video. The hand-gesture caused the NFL and NBC to have to issue an apology.
Lip-sync heaven: EVERYTHING WAS LIP SYNCED. Apparently there is a rumour going around that if you perform the Superbowl you must lip sync. But I don’t think that is true. Last year, the Black Eyed Peas didn’t lip sync…so what does that say to you?
All-in-All I was thoroughly entertained and it wasn’t horrible!
M.I.A. is making her comeback to the mainstream. The singer just released a power anthem called “Bad Girls”. The song is heavily influenced by M.I.A’s roots, and wouldn’t do bad in the club. The chorus features infectious lyrics like ” Live Fast, Die Young, Bad Girls Do It Well” and depending on how many people start buzzin’ about this video; it might become one of the best videos of 2012! Throughout the video we see the controversial singer do some choreography, and just bring that unique swag that we all love! After writing about Kanye West’s middle eastern music video, I think M.I.A just beat him to it.
AND THEN THERE WAS THIS! Madonna just dropped a video for her song “Give Me All Your Luvin” featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. The video has a heavy housewife football theme throughout to tease her upcoming Superbowl performance. The video gets really good after the 2 minute mark, Nicki Minaj drops a verse in her Roman alter-ego then M.I.A. just slays her verse. I think we need to take Madonna out of the occasion because she was out-shined by these two. I give it 4 years before M.I.A. and Nicki do a watch the throne type of album together!
Through tour riders, we are able to get one step closer to our favourite celebrities. It’s not that we really get to see them in the flesh but we get a feel for what they like. From being a super-fan in my past experience I’ve always wondered what stars like to eat, and what that list of diva demands entails. Lucky for me, my girl Nicki’s leaked. No matter where she goes, she wants her dressing room to be filled with chicken wings, two dozen pink or white roses, two space heaters, lemonade, 12 cans of red bull and candles. Also, if she is spending an entire day she wants scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, toast, Belgian waffles, strawberries, assorted juices, and a large fruit platter.
Not bad compared to J-Lo or Beyonce’s who wants everything to be laced in white. Although her demands seem like a lot she reminded us that her diva persona is something she only keeps on-stage and never off stage.
Thanks Nicki, now I know what to get you if I ever get to visit you.
Well THIS was a shock! The video that features Nicki Minaj gyrating, wining, twurking and jerking has been banned from BET. There is no exact reason to why BET decided to not add the video to their flow but let’s get real, unless the video was to be played on 106 and Park and it’s not like they have a good video flow to add it too. BET has been reluctant to play anyone’s videos for a very long time. The last time I tuned in they were playing Jazmine Sullivan’s “Lions, Tigers, and Bears” over and over again. We are all just waiting to hear what Nicki Minaj has to say about this, because a station that promotes hip-hop artists and rap artists that bans a very popular artist is due for some back-lash.
The only reasons I can think they would take it off is because of the word “Hoe”, even the clean version sounds like she is swearing in it. Or perhaps, it’s the fact that the cuts are way to quick and might cause seizures.
Whatever the case is, you know you’ve made it when a station doesn’t want to play your video! Controversy is the way to fame!
I like a good teaser for a top 40 David Guetta hit! The song featuring a singing Nicki Minaj called “Turn Me On” is getting the video treatment after already blowing up on the radio. Nicki Minaj is no where to be seen in the teaser but we can see Guetta creating mannequin like figures to roam the streets of his musical land. My theory is is that he is creating these people who signify his listening audience and that he basically controls us with his oh-so catchy music. Get it?
If you don’t we can all watch together when the video drops!
