Good afternoon friends. I like to say that Monday’s are usually slow in music related news. But this morning was a little jam-packed. For instance, the Juno’s took place last night. I must say, I’m really proud of Canadian Music right now. They are getting more airtime, our artists are crossing over to the mainstream and people are starting to go apeshit over bands like Hedley, Mariana’s Trench, and Carly Rae Jepsen (not a band, the singer…have you heard of her)?

The Juno’s:

Hedley and Bieber were among the big winners at last night’s Juno’s but what about the antics that went on? Michael Buble won Album of the Year for this Christmas Album and DeadMau5 was NOT happy about it. (Surprise, Surprise). The Juno’s were also referred to as “Amateur Hour” when a medley of different artists were represented through a pop-dance performance. JRDN, Alyssa Reid, Mia Martina, and more took part in a joined up performance to showcase the new talent that Canada has to offer. Feist stole the show by winning Artist of the Year and being the queen that she is.

Drake on Drugs? 

Drake openly admitted to doing drugs…with moderation that is. Wine, Codeine, and Weed are his favorites but he says he isn’t into drugs. But then caught himself when he realized he just said he did drugs. He just means he doesn’t like to get crazy. But should he have even told us? Probably not, because now we’re just going to be skeptical. He didn’t say how he is battling an addiction, or that it’s bad. Drake just does it. As simple as that.

Diggy VS J-Cole

BEEF HEAVEN. I know that sounds so weird. But the latest beef is taking place between Diggy Simmons and J. Cole. Yupp you heard it right, a 17 year old vs a 27 year old. Has Diggy ever heard of ‘respecting his elders’? The young rapper was feeling very disrespected when J Cole dissed his sister in a song. Diggy said “Heard you lying on my sis, telling people that you hit. When you album drops, I’m gonna hit you with your brick”. Those be fightin’ words.

Taylor Swift’s ACM date calls in sick :(.

This story is so sad. The boy who was going to go with Taylor Swift as a date to the American Country Music Awards wasn’t able to go because he was admitted to the hospital. My guess is, is that Taylor is going to make it up to him!

Taylor Swift’s PR people know how to do their job!

Like Mila Kunis, Justin Timberlake and Justin Bieber did…A story surfaced that Taylor Swift is going on a date with at 18 year old boy with cancer. I love this story. Kevin McGuire is watching his dreams come true right before his eyes. McGuire’s sister took to the social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to start campaigning to get T-Wizzle to go to prom with him. Although she couldn’t make it to prom, she was turned the tables and ask HIM to the Country Music Awards.

For a kid who has struggled with an unfortunate disease for most of his life, it’s great that Taylor Swift is giving back. To be cheesy, if you really want something…go out and get it!

Kevin did and now he gets to go on a date with Taylor Swift.

Grammy’s Wrap-Party!

Hello and welcome to my post-Grammy wrap party! What a night last night was. With the death of Whitney Houston putting a gloom over the show we celebrated the last year in music and what we loss with lots of tributes, crazy fashion and flashy performances. Your host LL Cool J was as boring as they come, but his opening prayer to Whitney Houston is what put him on my good side. LL Cool J usually hosts the Grammy nomination special and producers thought it would be a good idea to cross him over to the big show. But whether or not they made a good choice is boggling my mind.

Now that all of the Grammy’s have gone out, time to give out my own awards!

 Best Acceptance Speech:

“This record is inspired by something that is really normal and everyone has been through it, a rubbish relationship. It’s gone on to do things that I can’t even believe”, a hysterical Adele said! Why this acceptance speech is awesome, because Adele chose to talk about the snot that was coming out of her nose.

Best Performance:

While watching Adele on 60 minutes before the Grammy’s. She said this surgery she got gave her a new confidence while singing. It totally shined during this performance. Starting off with a accapella of “Rolling in the Deep” with the band kicking in. No funny lights, fire works, just a voice that will be remembered for a very long time.

Best Tribute:

While it seemed like everyone was trying to make a comeback, we were all still distraught over the death of Whitney Houston. A spotlight, a mic stand, and Jennifer Hudson absolutely killed “I will always love you”. Full of emotions and that voice…whoa momma.

Worst Performance:

He lip-sang the sh*t of this song. The first verse was sang live but everything else was flooded by bright lights, lego blocks and a lip syncing track. BOO! At least if they were going to bring Chris Brown to perform at the Grammy’s he could have at least done well. I think the Grammy’s made a really bad decision bringing Chris Brown back. It’s like they are saying that he did to Rihanna was okay. There were plenty of people that could have taken Chris’s spot because in no way was he memorable. Sorry Chris!

Performance I Hated To Love:

NICKI MINAJ! What in the world was going on? This performance seemed like it was straight out of the MTV VMA’s not one for the Grammy’s. Some people said “Why doesn’t she perform a song people know” or some others just simply hated it. But taking risks will have people talking and I’m sure thats what Nicki Minaj intended to do. Premiering a new song called “Roman’s Holiday” with a Vatican church theme might have offended a few people but hey at least she didn’t burn any crosses.

Most Unexpected:

I was a little skeptical about Rihanna + Coldplay performing because Coldplay has great songs and so does Rihanna! There is no reason for them to perform together. BUT Rihanna heard me out and played a piano version of “We Found Love” reminiscent of the opening scenes to her kick-ass video. Then there was a bridge between Coldplay’s performance with a duet of “Princess of China”. I liked the acoustic version of this song much better then the album version! They did good, and I wasn’t expecting it.

Honorable mention: CIVIL WARS! They introduced Taylor Swift and song the most beautiful 30 secs that I have ever heard.

The Grammy’s were awesome…now I just can’t wait until the next award show.

Taylor Swift says HEARTBREAK will be the theme of her new album. . . you surprised?

  We have been blessed by the wonderful music of Taylor Swift! But I’m sure you all can agree with me when I say there is a trend to Taylor’s music. Not that the love and break up stories aren’t appreciated because let’s face it…what does a 22year old singer have to sing about? There is partying but this is Tswizzle we’re talkin about, she don’t play like that.

In an interview with Vouge magazine she said her album is going to be about absolute crash and burn heart break. Many media outlets are speculating its the break up between her and Jake Gyllenhaal she is talking about.

Whether or not she is talking about him…Taylor always writes about her ex’s and if you date her you might be her next number one single.

Why you should watch Taylor Swifts “Ours”…

Yesterday was Taylor Swift’s birthday and I tried to have the discussion with a friend that Taylor Swift is simply the best story teller ever but they said her story telling is too obvious. I would have to disagree with that, I think that Taylor Swift is the queen for painting the picture in your head and also being relatable when it comes to being an artist. Taylor dropped her latest single called “Ours” which is as cute as she is accompanied with an amazing video. Watch above to find out what I’m talking about :)

Who DIDN’T get nominated for that Grammy.

So this year’s televised Grammy Nomination Special was larger then ever. With anything large comes performances from Lady Gaga, Usher and appearances by Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry. The entire special was actually pretty entertaining as Gaga tore up the stage with her Marry the Night performance and then closed the shoe with a duet with Sugarland. But enough about the performances! How about the nominations?

Adele (of COURSE) got nominated for her song Rolling in the Deep and album 21…she pulled in 6 nominations this year including Album of the Year, and Record of the Year.

Kanye West got nominated for 7 Grammy’s but didn’t score an Album of the Year nomination for “My Beautiful Twisted Dark Fantasy” which in my opinion is easily one of the albums of the year.

But in Kanye West fashion, 7 Grammy’s wasn’t enough for him so he decided to file a complaint. His reasoning for not being nominated for Album of the Year is because he has put out too many albums.

Yeah, okay Kanye just keep on making that music we all love.

But who got snubbed? 

Taylor Swift only got nominated for 2 Grammy’s. Someone who puts her heart and soul in to her albums that are so HONEST should get dozens of Grammy nods. I mean I’m sure she is humbled by getting nominated but come on Grammy people! She is one of the artists who shows a clear story line in her music and for that she should have gotten more nominations.

Beyonce was only nominated for 2. Best Collaboration for her song Party with Andre 300 and Best Live for her I Am world tour. Really? Beyonce that just released her most true to life album yet called “4″ couldn’t even get 4 nominations?

My theory: The people who vote for the Grammy’s love people who can be buzzed about. Adele, Nicki Minaj, J Cole, The Band Perry…they are all artists who have massive hits on the radio so it’s obvious that they would get nominated. I mean we all know that Adele is going to clean house which is fine because she is a musical mastermind.

But let’s talk Skrillrex, he came out from the d-j booth and just slapped EVERYONE in the face when he got nominated for 5 Grammy’s! Not only did he get nominated but if he wins it’ll be like when Jennifer Hudson won a Oscar. I’m not sure why I compared it to that but just go with it.

Nicki + Taylor. . . She helped her finish.

After the VMA’s at the end of August. Nicki Minaj took a walk over to the Staples Centre where Taylor Swift was playing out a sold out show.

Taylor Swift is one of the celebrities to thank for the success of Nicki Minaj’s single Super Bass (also shout out to Selena Gomez) so Nicki thanked her by showing up to perform the fast-paced rap single.

HOW SICK IS THIS? Not only is Super Bass THEE song of life but Taylor Swift and Nicki just kill it.

This marks another reason to why Taylor Swift is awesome.

Adele’s EX believes he should get Royalites for breaking up with her…

Looks like it’s hard to keep the ex’s away especially if you write about them in your music. Adele’s Ex-Boyfriend is coming back from her past saying that he should get money because he inspired her entire album 19. She said

“For about a week he was calling and was deadly serious about it. Finally, I said ‘Well, you made my life hell, so I lived it and now I deserve it’.”
She added: “He really thought he’d had some input into the creative process by being a prick. I’ll give him the credit – he made me an adult, and put me on the road that I’m travelling.”

This has to be a joke right? How could an ex ask for money because you used him/her as an inspiration for a song! This is hilarious. It proves that once you get famous all the little worms that might have inspired you to write hateful love songs might come back. Imagine if all of Taylor Swifts ex’s demanded money for the tracks she wrote about them? T-Swizzle would be broke!

Even though Adele is known for writing her break up songs, I did find a very romantic song on her album 21…it’s called One and Only!

Taylor Swift; where she gets all that good writing material from…

You know when Celebrities date each other and it’s like the world stops and follows the couple around for their short lived relationship? Well I was thinking about it and seeing Taylor Swift linked with Glee’s Chord Overstreet has me thinking. TAYLOR SWIFT gets AROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But in the best way possible. If you are a Taylor Swift fan, you would understand me when I say MOST of her songs are about past relationships. So after hearing about her and Chord, in my head I was like…wasn’t this country singer JUST dating Jake Gyllenhall? And what happened to her and Taylor Lautner? Then the light bulb came on, and I figured out what she is doing…

The Break-Down:

Joe Jonas: The two dated when she was fresh out on the scene and when the Jonas Brothers were BIG and Justin Bieber was irrelevant. Unfortunaly (OBVIOUSLY) the couple didn’t last and this forced Taylor to write a song called “Forever and Always” on her Fearless album.

Taylor Lautner: Remember that song Taylor performed at the American Music Awards when she wore that straight-haired weave? Yupp Back to December was her ‘apology’ to Lautner. The lyrics “ So this is me swallowing my pride….Standing in front of you, saying I’m sorry for that night…And I go back to December all the time”. I wonder what happened that night….I’m sure you are wondering too.

Adam Young: “I was enchanted to meet you too/I was never in love with someone else, I never had somebody waiting on me/Cause you were all of my dreams come true, And I just wish you knew/Taylor, I was so in love with you.”. If you read those lyrics that is proof that these two were dating and that he is OBVIOUSLY still in love with her. Don’t worry Adam Young (FROM OWL CITY) we all are. This song ‘Enchanted’ was writted by Taylor about Adam, and usually she doesn’t tell us WHO the songs are written about, we just put two and two together. But for this one Adam wrote a reply (in the lyrics I posted above) and ‘baited’ out her scene.

John Mayer: Dear John off of her Speak Now album is a 7 min song about their love affair. Talks about a relationship gone sour…I wonder if this was before or after he diddled Jessica Simpson’s skittle.

Jake Gyllenhaal: Don’t worry bro, your song is coming on the next album;)

So all in all, famous boys WATCH OUT. Taylor Swift is on the prowl and you might be the key to her next #1 single.

The Grammy’s TONIGHT; WHY YOU SHOULD BE WATCHING..

My favorite award show of all time takes place tonight. The Grammy’s will start at 8PM eastern time to celebrate MUSIC like the Oscar’s celebrate movies. I remember watching the Grammy’s when I was younger, not really caring who won awards just wanting to see performances. For some reason all what I can recall is seeing Norah Jones perform “Don’t Know Why”….and I don’t know why. Last year was an amazing show because the Grammy’s use to be a very upscale classical type of award show, and last year with Lady Gaga opening the show it turned out to be more of a concert than an award show. Not to say when someone won an award it wasn’t a huge deal, but it seemed like everyones performances WERE very well THOUGHT out before they hit the stage comparing it to previous years…

Performers: TONIGHT we will get to see Lady Gaga perform her new single ‘Born This Way” FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER! Katy Perry said she will also be performing a song she has never performed before. Rihanna will be taking the stage with Drake to perform “What’s My Name” with Laryngitis and Bronchitis (that is if she doesn’t cancel between now and then). Mumford and Sons will take the stage with Bob Dylan to perform which will be has HISTORICAL as Taylor Swift performing with Stevie Nicks last year. There will be also be a Aretha Franklin tribute done by Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, and Florence Welsh. Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith will be performing with Usher….it’s just JAM PACKED with PERFORMANCES. Everyone always tries to put on the BEST show when it comes to the Grammy’s and bring their song alive. They are usually performing a song that got nominated meaning the performance will be to make the song more relevant to the Grammy’s.

All in all Tonight WILL be a good show. The fun thing about award shows is that the day after we get to talk about who WON, what people WORE, and who can’t sing LIVE! Who will deliver? Who will fail us? All questions will be answered TONIGHT! I am SO excited for this years Grammy’s!

Should be a good show…so the question remains. WILL YOU BE WATCHING?

T-Swift shows her inner Minaj.

Could this mean a Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift collabo on the way?(We can ONLY hope…and wish) Taylor was doing promo in Nashville for upcoming tour and she decided to spit some Nicki Minaj. I found this pretty hilarious because the person that you didn’t think would ever be a big Nikki Minaj fan actually turned out to know all the words to her songs. The only reason they asked her to rap the track was because she posted a tweet saying she loves ‘spittin’ some Nicki while driving around. Like most of us do, well I guess I could speak for myself. There is nothing like a good Nikki Minaj track to rap to while driving. Always remember that someone is watching you when you’re singing your car. Well that’s a scary though because on those long drives back and forth to Niagara I’m pretty sure I’m always singing something….I think it’s time to stop. I was wondering why everyone was looking at me.

Collboration: Nicki Minaj finds a way to get on everyones tracks. Whether it’s Trey Songz, Usher or Rihanna…she is always the HIGHLIGHT when you are listening to a Featuring Nicki Minaj track. So what would a Taylor Swift Featuring Nicki Minaj track sound like? Probably some Country…meets rap…meets….god knows what to make a #1 HIT! Maybe the country vibe will bring out a new alter-ego for Nicki Minaj, we’ll call her Vern. (RAH RAH)
