Songs of the day: two new hits provided by Nicki Minaj & Usher

Nicki Minaj is giving us more of that super sweet Barbie alter ego we love with what sounds to be a follow up to “Superbass” called “Starships”. A song about putting your hands up to the sky and getting high sounds reminiscent of Britney Spears’ “Till the World End”. Ryan Seacrest has been ranting and raving about this song and it’s actually REALLY good. There is no doubt that this song will be hitting the clubs very soon with the mixture of crazy beats and Nicki Minaj’s crazy rapping! Expect a lot of radio play.

Then there was this! Usher and Diplo teamed up to help you reach your climax. Usher’s smooth voice sounds like he’s taking us back to his R&B roots with this song. The song that I actually thought was going to be another club song turned out to be Usher at his best on vocals with a unique twist on a beat the radio hasn’t heard before. People are saying it sounds like electro-soul.

That makes sense!

The Grammy’s TONIGHT; WHY YOU SHOULD BE WATCHING..

My favorite award show of all time takes place tonight. The Grammy’s will start at 8PM eastern time to celebrate MUSIC like the Oscar’s celebrate movies. I remember watching the Grammy’s when I was younger, not really caring who won awards just wanting to see performances. For some reason all what I can recall is seeing Norah Jones perform “Don’t Know Why”….and I don’t know why. Last year was an amazing show because the Grammy’s use to be a very upscale classical type of award show, and last year with Lady Gaga opening the show it turned out to be more of a concert than an award show. Not to say when someone won an award it wasn’t a huge deal, but it seemed like everyones performances WERE very well THOUGHT out before they hit the stage comparing it to previous years…

Performers: TONIGHT we will get to see Lady Gaga perform her new single ‘Born This Way” FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER! Katy Perry said she will also be performing a song she has never performed before. Rihanna will be taking the stage with Drake to perform “What’s My Name” with Laryngitis and Bronchitis (that is if she doesn’t cancel between now and then). Mumford and Sons will take the stage with Bob Dylan to perform which will be has HISTORICAL as Taylor Swift performing with Stevie Nicks last year. There will be also be a Aretha Franklin tribute done by Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, and Florence Welsh. Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith will be performing with Usher….it’s just JAM PACKED with PERFORMANCES. Everyone always tries to put on the BEST show when it comes to the Grammy’s and bring their song alive. They are usually performing a song that got nominated meaning the performance will be to make the song more relevant to the Grammy’s.

All in all Tonight WILL be a good show. The fun thing about award shows is that the day after we get to talk about who WON, what people WORE, and who can’t sing LIVE! Who will deliver? Who will fail us? All questions will be answered TONIGHT! I am SO excited for this years Grammy’s!

Should be a good show…so the question remains. WILL YOU BE WATCHING?

BEP takes over DALLAS for the Superbowl!

Ever since Janet Jackson ruined it for the entire music industry (I’m gonna have you nekked by the end of this song+Justin Timberlake randomly ripping off your top=nipple rings and all coming out+Fireworks=whippin out the nipple ring on a Sunday afternoon) POP Music is back with a vengeance this year to keep us entertained during the Super Bowl! For artists, I’d say the Super bowl is quite the event to be apart of. Not only do you perform in a HUGE stadium but MILLIONS and MILLIONS of people watch the game ever year(no pressure Will.I.Am). I think they chose a really good group to perform this year. Everyone knows their songs…so it is going to be like ONE BIG PARTY. (DIRTY BIT) Also word on the street is that Slash and Usher are going to be joining the bill to perform alongside B-E-P.

Costumes: Fergie said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that her costume needs to be approved with the NFL before she goes on stage. She specifically said “It will be a performance without malfunctions” ….7 years later and no one can drop it! HILARIOUS.

Next Year: Because this year’s Superbowl is almost here this has me thinking WHO is going to take the stage next year. I know you BIG sports fans are like….is this guy serious? But to perform on the stage at the Superbowl is a pivotal moment in your career!  My top choices for next year would have to be BEYONCE. She has YET to take the stage at the Super Bowl and with a new album in the works this year…next year seems like her year. Also I wouldn’t mind seeing a BUNCH of stars coming together to perform the hits…like Rihanna, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha…etc. It’s hard to say who will have the POWER to entertain such a LARGE audience. That’s why I say…we throw  them ALL together!
